This book makes mathematics fun and easy. it is the only book for maths that i am not getting tired of despite having English as a second language. As a teacher I am inspired by the humorous and smart way of introducing maths to students. i am planning to buy the second book as well. I hope Danica writes more books explaining algebra and other difficult math concepts.

Makes middle school math intelligible to all us post-college-non-math majors! Ms. McKellar is an amazing teacher. She knows exactly where we are going to be confused and straightens the path for us!

This is an excellent resource for young girls and their Mom's and Nana's. Fifth grade math is hard and we need all the help we can get. This book brings real life into math and it is done in way that is relatable to our life.I am ordering the next two today!

BEWARE. Some booksellers appear to be selling bum copies!! The text of this book was great but the version I purchased (from Hippo Books) must have been a printer reject: pages 107-138 were included twice (Chapter 9-10), while pages 203-234 were missing (Chapters 18-19). WTF? That sucks. I didn't check my copy for a while, too late to return for a refund. So, my advice to anyone buying this book is to look through it carefully once you receive it, to make sure it isnt faulty. Ms. McKellar's text is great though. .

I absolutely love this book. It has been an amazing tool to use when I am tutoring my middle school students in math. Danica McKellar did a superb job in this book. It surprised me to see some of my own tactics in the book. I can honestly say that I read this book in a matter of a couple of days and am reading it again and taking notes down.
By the way, I bought this book because a student had recommended it to me.

I am 3 years old -bought this for my granddaughter- I have never been good at math. I read the "integers" chapter andI now can tell you all about what integers are (1,3,5,7,11,13,17,19 etc) (notice 15 is not in there). I understood everything I read- wow, you are brilliant Danica

I loaned Danicas books from library and decided I needed them to keep at home. A lot of good information in them. A lot to digest. She is funny. She gives you plenty to think about math and life. Math doesn't suck.

This is a brilliant book for learning the basics of math. It covers the rules and gives some handy quick tips for working out problems. I particularly like the Re-flip-recol tip, the monkeys and the pizzas. I bought this for my daughter who hates math with a passion but loves pizza. It has helped clear things up for her.

My 12-year old daughter has been struggling with math and was beginning to have the attitude that she was "bad" at math. This book has helped turn that around for her. The way Danica writes is directly relatable to this age group for girls and I am impressed with how this book has changed my daughter's view of math 180 degrees. For example, the stories include relevant ways to apply things like percentages and fractions in ways my daughter understands. Concepts are relatable to my daughter's way of thinking. I highly recommend this book!

Great book. This makes math seem much less intimidating to students AND their teachers.
I bought it to show to my grad students who are going to be teachers. One bought her own copy after borrowing my copy and another student promptly borrowed the returned book.

As someone who graduated high school many sunrise and sunsets ago, I found Danica's book extremely helpful. It opened up the drawers on subjects stored in the long term memory files. Although the style of the book is geared toward adolescents, Danica has a refreshing way of explaining processes step by step that I found entertaining and at the same time it was clearly understandable. She definitely knows her math! I highy recommend this book to anyone that needs to brush up on their basic math skills.

This book is a wonderful reference. I enjoyed the colloquial way McKellar presents the information and she does an outstanding job of giving all the tips and tricks that math math easier. Why the 3 stars, you ask? For the love of all that is good and pure, why did the references to boys, dating, and horoscopes have to be included? McKellar could have very easily endeared herself to my daughter's heart without all that distracting nonsense. Just her knowledge and presentation of said knowledge alone is stellar. Leave the other stuff in fluffy books, okay?

I purchased two copies for my daughter's Montessori 6 - 8 grade room. I read through it and even worked out a couple of the problems that I remember always gave me trouble. Danica makes it easy to follow and leads you from one type of problem into the next with ease. Every middle school girl should have access to this refreshing book. It will save the girls from the math phobias and lifelong academic misunderstandings a lot of us have dealt with. Thank you Danica!!

I bought this book after Danica talked about the book on "Morning Joe", and I am glad I did!

It was purchased for my 8th grade daughter, and although she was not happy to see that the book was about math, she has used it to write down formula's to help with her math classes this year!

I believe it will work as an inexpensive tutor to help if she has issues this year. thanks Danica!!!

My daughter enjoyed reading the book. The math examples the author provided gave my daughter a different perspective on how to solve certain equations. I will definitely be buying her more books from this author.

I bought this book for my daughter who was struggling with math. I loved Danica on Wonder Years, so I figured it would at least be entertaining. My daughter loves this book, and also the fun quizzes, and the neat tricks she has for remembering functions.
