Review:Brain plasticity is a very interesting subject, and Mr. Merzenich is well-versed in it and has been involved with research regarding it for a long time. There is some good information in this book, but it turns out to be mostly an ad for his (not inexpensive) product developed to aid in maintaining brain plasticity. Like many many other products on the market. Read more
Review:I have been following Max for sometime on social media and have been following his advice. Now I have his book and can read more in depth about the research he has collected and put together. The book is not overwhelming to read like some I have read. There are a few recipes at the end that I have already tried and found very tasty. Read more
Review:Incredible book. Great sequel to the greatest treatise on diet and health ever written, Gary Taubes Good Calories Bad Calories. Teicholz picks up the baton and in the same thorough investigative style underscores points Taubes makes and then delves deeper in many other important areas. She again exposes the myth and hoax of the "diet heart hypothesis" foisted on us by a cadre of exclusive, elitist, over enthusiastic, non scientific low fat advocates with a zeal based more on politics than scie... Review:As a young adult, watching Neil Armstrong walk on the Moon ignited a life long interest in space travel.
Scott Kelly’s mesmerizing account of his life as an astronaut did Not disappoint!
Thank you, Scott Kelly, for presenting the reality of NASA triumphs and failures.
The comparison of the Russian versus American philosophy was humorous and enlightening.

Review:As the book explains, “People often use the term mindset to refer to a core belief about oneself. However, in our experience over three decades helping individuals and organizations, the biggest lever for change is not in self-belief but a fundamental change in the way one sees and regards one’s connections with and obligations to others.” This is the heart of the book.
The authors compare changing your mindset with changing your behavior, noting, “Countless books on personal improvement... Read more
Review:A lot of lovely pictures! Spectacular! Some even ominous and scary! And the little clouds in some of the pictures are so cute! This book is great for an artist, but unfortunately not for someone who is still in school. Some things could lead a student astray and cause him to learn some things wrong in preparation for an exam.
Here are some things that could use some improvement:
(1). The section on Stratocumulus opens with a photo of scattered tall Cumulus clouds (Cumulus con... Read more
Review:Reads like your favorite spy thriller, but ends like a horror story. I can't imagine the courage it took for Mr. Carroll to gather the hard evidence and compelling interviews that make up this first-rate documentary.
You don't have to be a Lyme disease sufferer (as I am) to be enthralled with this book. It is my dearest wish that it will inspire others to discover the truth about Plum Island and hopefully a cure someday.

Review:A very important book for our times. Leopold's message is to this day still being ignored by this country's power-brokers.
Beautifully written classic. A must-read for high school students and should be part of the curriculum. Read more
Review:Although I have not spent much time in the desert, I feel like I want to after reading Desert Solitaire. If you enjoy reading beautiful descriptions of nature and incredible storytelling, interspersed with thoughtful comments about humankind (and how we have a tendency to mess up nature) this book is for you. I place Abbey's writing with that of Thoreau and Steinbeck - he is that good. Read more
