Cars, Trains & Things That Go
Review:My son has adored this book since we purchased it when it was released. We decided to read it to his preschool class at their Halloween party, and all of the children sang and danced along. There are beautiful illustrations to look and talk about, and the familiar tune gets everyone involved. Read more
Review:Love the Little Blue Truck books! This Halloween one is no exception. My son loves to lift the flaps. I, personally, LOVE the illustrations which really add more to the story & offer a lot to talk about as we go along - the setting sun, the moon & stars, the changing/falling leaves, counting pumpkins and jack-o-lanterns, and "what's Lil Blue doing back there...?" ... A wonderful addition to our Blue Truck collection. Read more
Review:My 2 year old really likes reading this book. The illustrations are neat to look at. I only wish there was more contrast between the illustrations and text. We tend to read in a dark room before bedtime and it can be difficult to see some of the words sometimes. Read more
Review:Chris Van Dusen is this generation's Dr. Seuss.
All of his books are on our FAVORITES shelf. I suspect there is an autobiographical element to "If I Built a Car" and that makes it special. The Mr. Magee books are great, too.
I can't think of anything bad to say. Well, I suppose I'm a little bitter that he can be so talented as to write *and* illustrate such stories! Read more
Review:Good way to keep him entertained. He loves the pictures and reading about the trucks. I bought it originally when he was at the Drs. Office with me. It kept him entertained while the doctor saw me. Mission accomplished! He has read it many times since. Read more
Review:I loved this book. Loved, loved, loved it. Someday I will use it in storytime. It is a perfect example for ECRR-talk. The labelling that is used for lifting, carrying, mixing, scooping, etc is awesome. It's a beautiful vocabulary builder--"towed terrifically," "carried carefully," dumped dependably," "mixed marvelously." I also put this on the "play" shelf because although the trucks are all working, it's a lot of fun and I can picture kids playing this story while reading it. At one point I won... Read more
Review:We LOVE these books. They literally are indestructible. I have tried (unsuccessfully) tearing the pages to prove it to people. My daughter has 4 of these books and it’s now my go to gift for other babies. Read more
Review:Fun to read for parents! It contains poetry about the trucks, there is like 16 different ones I think, and teaches a little bit. We first read it at the library then had to buy a copy so we could return it. My 2 yr old loves this book and so do I. Read more
Review:Cute, small book for toddlers! We got this book for our one and a half year olds. They liked it. If you don't mind a small book this is great. Probably a good little thing to take in the stroller or car. Richard Scarry is pretty classic at this point and the illustrations are cute. Read more
Review:My little boy got spoiled with gifts from Grandma on his 2nd birthday - including a ride-on tractor and ride-on excavator for the yard. All the other gifts were completely overshadowed by this book. We had to pry him away from it to play with the other toys. He LOVES this book! Read more
