Review:Kids today in this "me-centered" world need to be reminded of how their words and actions affect others. The examples given in this book are very pertinent and good discussion starters for both classroom and home use. Being a former teacher I would recommend this book highly, this is a topic that NEEDS to be addressed with toddlers through adolescents. Might even be good for adult behavior improvement workshops. Review:I am a grandmother reading this series of books with my 9 year old granddaughter, Josey. We both have a Kindle, so we read the books independently and then compare our experiences - she then writes a book report. Josey is homeschooled. This series of books is wonderful. I love the stories as much as she does. They are very funny, exciting, and challenging. Lots of new words are used for a 9 year old, but the author gives a definition on the spot and with humor. Wonderful is how I describe... Read more
Review:My grandson seems to have dysfunctional parents, my son being one of them. He is very self centered and rude. He therefore has no friends and is picked on at school. I feel very sorry for him and try to do things with him and do a little parenting with him when it is just my wife and I, but it will not make up for all the years of neglect. I found this book and read it and gave it to my grandson with a inscription that read to help his success in life as he grows older. I told him that when... Read more
Review:We use Second Grade Big Workbook as a supplement to our homeschooling. We like the bright colors and how it covers so many subjects. The easy reading makes it more fun for our son who is able to work at his own pace. He has thrived in his reading and math skills using "SGBW". We love it! Read more
Review:This book is absolutely fantastic. It was my favorite as a young child and was the springboard launching me, a reluctant reader, into a love for books. I just purchased this to gift to my nephew but I stole a trip thru the pages another time and remembered why I loved this book so much. If you’ve never read this book give it a try! Read more
Review:I recently introduced my three year old grandson to this book. He loves it every bit as much as I always did. My mother read it to me. I loved it. My daughter loved it. The story is entrancing. There is something deeply resonant to the fantasy of the little girl who is allowed to do as she pleases in the absence of parents. Yet she is not alone and she is deeply loved by Nanny. The drawings are wonderful and intricate and prompted a wonderful half hour of exploring every little detail. Read more
Review:What I Loved: The amount of detail that went into wrapping up the major storylines. This book was not for the faint at heart: you cried, you laughed, but in the end you realized that life does indeed go on if you let it. The characters that were amazing in this book: Mrs. Weasley, Bellatrix, Ron (showed huge growth), the Twins, and Neville! My favorite parts were centered around these characters and what they brought to the table.
My Thoughts: This book was better the 2nd and 3rd tim... Read more
Review:I use this book in the second grade music classes I teach. I created a song out of the repetitive sections of the story, and they sing it and accompany themselves on the Orff instruments. I use this along with the original Pout-Pout Fish book to reinforce the concept of major and minor keys. Read more
Review:My daughter loves Junie B. Jones! She loves the books so much she has felt the need to read them out loud to me since I don't have time to read them myself. They're cute and surprisingly funny, and this book is no exception. It's a great price, too--it would cost more to go to the movies than to buy a Junie B. book. Read more
Review:Wilkie Collins, best know for "The Moonstone" (which I have read and loved) and "The Woman in White" (which I have not read yet) is at his best in "No Name". I do not compare it to the "Moonstone" for the "Moonstone" is a great mystery for which the reader must wait to the end for it to be revealed. "No Name" is not a mystery but one great chessmatch, that oddly enough is not played by Magdalen and Noel Vanstone. It is played by the wonderful character of Captain Wragge and Mrs. Lecount. Readi... Read more
