The compulsively-readable psychological thriller - like Broadchurch written by Elena Ferrante
The compulsively-readable psychological thriller - like Broadchurch written by Elena Ferrante

Review:Based on the NYT review, I was expecting a gripping thriller. Instead I got a paint-by-numbers attempt at a mystery novel. I did not care at all about the main character, nor her observations, many of which seemed random. A disappointing read. Read more

The Futures: A New York love story
The Futures: A New York love story

Review:I really enjoyed this book, it's reminiscent of other great coming of age books. I found the portrayal of Julia and Evan to reflect the trials and tribulations of becoming an adult -- with all the ups and downs that a relationship can bring. As a Londoner, I loved the setting in New York and it brought back good memories of times in NYC in my twenties. If you like books about relationships, New York or twenties angst, then you'll enjoy this book Read more

Mama
Mama

Review:"Mama" held my interest. I love Terry McMillian's storytelling skills. She's creative and wrote an unpredictable novel. The novel was realistic and I could relate to the story about some of the things that happened in my childhood. I was cheering for the family and was glad that they were turning their life around until the story ended abruptly. "Mama" gets 4 stars because of the abrupt ending. It needed a least a few more chapters or epilogue to bring the novel to full circle.

Death and Relaxation (Ordinary Magic Book 1)
Death and Relaxation (Ordinary Magic Book 1)

Review:For the first book introducing a series it was well done. The development of the main characters continued throughout the book, but not exposing everything, leaving some for the future books. It definitely gave the right feel for being on the Oregon coast, since I live on an Island a couple of hundred miles north. Without giving anything away it is safe to say the nothing is ordinary in Ordinary. Read more

The Wedding Proposal
The Wedding Proposal

Review:This is the love story of Gabriel and Cherry. There is rekindled love and attraction between them that started in childhood but renews with an unusual proposal that leads to broken hearts. The plot seemed a little rushed in this story but it is a good romance read with drama, deceipt, hot sex, forgiveness and true love with a HEA. I enjoyed another good romance read from this great author. I voluntarily reviewed this as an ARC for my unbiased review. Read more

Accidental Daddy
Accidental Daddy

Review:An amazing book that captured me from beginning to end. Roman and Beatrice met at a Halloween party where she gave him her virginity and he gave her a baby. One he didn't know about until he goes looking for the girl that he can't get out of his head. How will Roman react when he finds out Beatrice has kept his baby girl from him? Will these main characters get a second chance at love? RR Banks is a great story teller and you won't be able to put this one down once you start. I voluntarily... Read more
