Lord Jim (Penguin Classics)
Lord Jim (Penguin Classics)

Review:Lord Jim is an early harbinger of the modern novel. With perspectives and chronologies that take a while to settle, it is not an easy read. But do persist. The reward is well worth it: not only for the rich characters but the human insight that is quintessentially Conrad. Enjoy! Read more

Angels in the Moonlight (The Dublin Trilogy Book 3)
Angels in the Moonlight (The Dublin Trilogy Book 3)

Review:Angels in the Moonlight is Caimh McDonnell’s latest novel; a prequel to his hilarious ‘Dublin Trilogy’. The year is 1999. Location: Dublin. The world is fearing the advent of the new millennium and the Y2K bug. Bunny McGarry is fearing the accidental suicide of Rory Coyne, who is only at the top of a six-storey building to detract attention from his thieving girlfriend. And that’s just the first chapter.

To those familiar with McDonnell’s ‘Dublin Trilogy’, this prequel is the well-needed ... Read more

By James Joyce (Illustrated And Unabridged)

Review:James Joyce is truly a brilliant writer. I liked all the nine stories included in Dubliners, but enjoyed some more than others. The last story included in Dubliners: The Dead was particularly haunting and beautiful. Read more

The Rime of the Ancient Mariner (Macmillan Collector's Library Book 1)

Review:Short sweet and to the point. Different to the length found in other epics but still an epic nonetheless. If you want a brief overview of the story listen to iron maidens song by the same name, though be prepared to listen for around 17 minutes. Read more

A Perfect Spy: A Novel
A Perfect Spy: A Novel

Review:This is a complex book. And an extremely slow one. It works because the way it languidly develops many uncommon themes:

- The protagonist is a person without any ideologies or loyalties. This is what makes him a perfect spy, as he is someone without any ambitions for the self as well. He leads a remarkable life of random twists and turns - that are a product of circumstances and never of any design - spanning all five Cold War decades and in a handful of era-defining geographies.
- At ... Read more

Friday's Child
Friday's Child

Review:I was looking for a lighthearted romance but this is not it. it is just SILLY. I was totally turned off by the people who are supposed to be best of the best, ie the TON, richest folks in town who continue to use words like ain't, and don't, and other slang. the explanation that it was all the rage is just sad. and detracts from the story for me. the hero and heroine are both the stupidest people around. rich yes, but stupid with it. AND it keeps getting worse and worse as they kept doing stup... Read more

An addictive psychological thriller you won't be able to put down

Review:The Best Friend was a compelling and compulsive read. I found myself reading just one more chapter before bedtime. I loved the premise of the story as well as the pacing and execution of the plot. The tale was masterfully woven such that the characters of Louisa and Darcy really seemed real to me. Yes, you have to suspend some disbelief, but I found that the fun factor of this book was a ten. A great escape from reality for a few hours! I will definitely be reading more by this author. Highl... Read more

Black Sheep
Black Sheep

Review:This is one of Georgette Heyer's best stories. However the person who read it was terrible. The Black Sheep sounded dumb and old, The main heroine sounded like an old woman. The person who read this book, she's done others, is really bad in my opinion and keeps me from purchasing other audible Heyer books. Read more

Night and Day (Twentieth Century Classics)
Night and Day (Twentieth Century Classics)

Review:Always hats off to Parker's story telling power. This time trivial underwear checking affair by principal develops into rather big incident for the cop of small town. Every characters in this story seem to be struggling for real love. I haven't seen the word swingers for a long time. I thought the word was a parting gift of flower generation in seventies. I never imagined those people are still existing. I'm so glad to read Jesse finally shut down Jenn who pleas coming back to him. As Japanese ... Read more
