Review:My sons love Silverstein. His books are pretty much what they want to hear at bedtime. I think Shel Silverstein (from an adult's perspective) was a very multi-dimensional, interesting, intellectual, creative and talented man. He's a bit edgier than "Dr Suess" in the sense that some of his poems don't have very happy endings - but in our case, his books have stimulated our son's minds to think outside of the box. Read more
Review:A classic Vonnegut piece that depicts the not-so-distant future. It isn't very engaging for the first half but is worth finishing. Once you really start to see how the characters think, and how the world of Ilium functions, it's hard to put down. Read more
Review:I loved the banter between Noely and her BFF Dylan. Actually the author writes the banter between the main character, her family, and especially the three "blind dates" incredibly well. This book is Rom-Com at its finest. I very much like the writing style and voice of author Meghan Quinn and look forward to more of this series. Read more
Review:Maybe if you read Penthouse and Playboy this is the book for you. I didn't care for the descriptions of the women too much detail I didn't care for the women having to take their wet shirts off I didn't care for the how the men were checking out the women's bodies all the time Read more
Review:This book is a collection of 25 short stories. They are simple but you can if you want read great depth in them. These stories would make good starters for a reading group or circle. They are professional but not extraordinary or unique.
"The year was 2081, and everyone was finally equal. They weren't only equal before God and the law. They were equal in every way."
I bought this book for one story in particular "Harrison Bergeron"; I bought the movie with Sean Astin and thought ev... Read more
Review:- There was a lot of set-up for a story that never developed.
This was my 1st K.V. book.
I usually read/scan reviewers; if a mix of both genders is represented, I find a better chance of enjoying the book. (And, it eliminates the 'fluff'.)
MARS VS VENUS -Interestingly, there were mainly male reviewers & the majority of these gave the book high marks. Of the few women represented, most seemed to agree with me...or, I with them.
Since the book is void of car chases,... Read more
Review:What is there to say? Vonnegut is the funniest and most pointedly accurate novelist working today. The last half-century has been better for his contributions.
This book is spot on all the way through. Read it. Laugh, Cry, realize that he's right, and then cry some more. Read more
Review:I haven't specialised to DA in terms of science fiction but rather read everything everytime without any prejudices (atleast in my opinion :) ) and as much as others claim (well, atleast some people do, and they have right for their opinion, as do I) it isn't as good as the others or that it actually is a flop, I must disagree, for if it hadn't been written there would have been lots of information that would have gone without explanation. The books ending seems abrupt but on the other hand, the... Read more
Review:Maybe my expectations were to high but I felt the book wasn't that good. The writing seems to drag on. The almost 300 page book seems to cover about what Adams would have covered in 50 pages. If you feel you need to read it go ahead, just do not expect much. Read more
Review:FIRST THOUGHTS
This was the second book I’ve read written by Patrick Ness. After reading When a Monster Calls from him, I figured any book written by him would be amazing. So, when I found this, I just had to pick it up.
CHARACTERS
I found the characters to be super interesting. They each had their own internal conflict. Mikey, the protagonist, has anxiety and OCD. It was really cool to read through the perspective of a character with those issues. I have an anxiety disorder... Read more
