Review:A story of life and death and choices that could have changed at different points in these characters' lives. Sometimes self-awareness comes too late. If we're lucky we get to live and make a better choice. Loved the character development. They were real.
This is a must read -- pure and simple!

Review:An excellent book. It continues the story of "Half a King", but instead of Yarvi, there is a new character taking the spotlight: Thorn. She's bascially the opposite of Yarvi. After all, Yarvi is a man, who was expected to be a warrior king but instead chose to be a minisiter of peace. Thorn is a woman, who is expected to be a traditional lady, but wants to be a warrior. The plot by itself isn't actually anything amazing. In fact (like many fantasy books), they spend a huge portion of time just t... Read more
Review:I love Abercrombie. Every book of his up to now has been 5 stars. This one, though, even accounting for the fact that's it's YA, was pretty mediocre and seemed to be written on autopilot. I would have given it three stars because it's average for that genre, but went with two since a lot of people buying it will be fan's of his more adult stories. Really, don't bother buying this if you're a fan of his other stuff, you'll be disappointed. And don't buy it to support the author. I selfishly do no... Read more
Review:This is currently one of my favorite subgenres. I like the palpable sense of dread the author creates from the very beginning. Is something off with the narrator? We don't know. I am never sure how long books are anymore with the kindle, but this one must be fairly short at only 3 hour or so read. Dreadful and tricky. I liked it!! Read more
Review:I only recently started reading some of the new Star Wars books and was cautious that they would be geared more towards young adults than a more mature audience. My first two reads, Tarkin and Sith Lords, were great and gave me a lot of hope for where Disney was going to allow authors to take the story. On that premise I bought Twilight Company despite being hesitant that the reviews made it sound very cliché and needless to say it was. To be fair I do have a military background so I may be a... Review:I've read one book by Meg Wolitzer before, but hoped for more from this one because of the good reviews and the potential of an interesting theme and plot. Sorry. I just don't get it. Another reviewer, Avid Reader, wrote that Wolitzer had 'a concept still searching for characters and a meaningful story.' Exactly. I just don't think that she's a real writer. She doesn't have an interesting view of the world and she doesn't know much about how to express what she does know. Given the mostly glowi... Read more
Review:Great new addition to the series. The only disappointment is that I am finding some of the characters personalities are blending and everyone has become a bit quick witted, which is hilarious but the characters need to be more defined. Read more
Review:This book is printed without using quotes around the sentences when the characters are talking. I find it difficult to follow due to the lack of punctuation. Some of the sentence structures are also funky, adding to the strange writing style. I find my mind wandering onto other things while I read this book which causes me to not really remember most of what I've read. I find it a little boring and wish there was more of a plot. Read more
Review:enjoyed the extreme sensory descriptiveness!! had me turning pages engrossed and expectant for more. Didn't end like story was finished, sounded like might continue into anyther tale. would recomend to those who enjoy paranormal romance. 5* very well written. Read more
Review:I walked away from this book with a new perspective I didn't have before. A deeper level of empathy about a people who are forgotten in America. Although this book is fiction, you can tell its stories are real - the emotion is real and built from first hand experiences of what the author has both himself experienced and knows firsthand about.
I highly recommend this book. Required reading. I'm sorry it's a downer but we owe it to those whose history have been white-washed to acknowledge w... Read more
