Review:My first graders loved the rhyme and chime effect of this read aloud. It is part of my collection for the first week back in school. I also have several others in this series which makes it fun for the students to connect with several texts by same author. Read more
Review:I think everyone should read this book. He has an amazing way of making you feel pain, fear, and remorse all at the same time. It gives you simple yet vivid insight into the lives of those haunted everyday by this disaster, that for lack of a better word, we call the Holocaust. Read more
Review:In “Tender Is the Night,” Fitzgerald provides us with a harsh look at human nature and relationships through the lives of three unforgettable characters. The story is told from these three different characters, the Divers, Dick and Nicole and Rosemary. The story shifts between the three persons to slowly reveal the surreal relationship between Dick and Nicole and their sad lives. “Tender Is the Night” is less dramatic and much slower than “The Great Gatsby,” but eventually much more satisfying. ... Review:Stories were good for children, though a little graphic in parts. I expected Ali Baba and agencies, and was disappointed. The foreword explained how this was an original version and that older versions did not include these stories. However, I enjoyed most of them and got a small taste of old Arabic/Oriental culture. Review:This book is adorable and it will help to stave off the fear of monsters in younger children. In this book the monsters are hard at work to have a party for the neighborhood children on Halloween. Overall adorable book! Read more
Review:Started out well but close to the halfway mark I began to skim a lot. Not enough enough introspection from main character. Too many details that were unnecessary. I was however pulled along to the end. Read more
Review:This book was hard to put down. It gave some insight on the Catholic religion which I found helpful to me, personally. History of WWII very good. Glad I didn't live over there or had to suffer as they did. For those of you who don't know, there is a God and He is good! John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He sacrificed His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. Read more

Review:One reviewer called The Bear and the Nightingale an adult fairytale. It is, and for all of us who've never outgrown our love for the old tales, this is a beautiful addition. It's an absorbing retelling of a Russian folk tale but with flesh and bones and a hunger for more. I look forward to Katherine Arden's continuing story in her next book. Read more
Review:I enjoyed this first volume of this trilogy, but I loved the second volume, The author continues the tale using Russian folk lore as a background. Vasilisa is an interesting and independent young woman. That independent streak is a strength, but it also leads her into difficult situations. In this story she meets up with her beloved older sister in Moscow after she comes to the attention of the Prince of that city. She is in a society far different from the rural existence she has known. The deci... Read more
