Review:A worthwhile fantasy read. The plot kept me interested. The details were vivid without being over the top. The heroes were imperfect and many of the villains were actually respectable characters. I found both of those attributes refreshing. The story lacked the profundity of some of my favorite novels. And the magic system was at times disappointingly vague. But all in all I finished the book feeling attached to the characters and excited to read the sequel. Read more
Review:While not at quite the level of pace we see in the first two books, the books still delivers. People start changing, due to the incidents in the second book and we start to see what the Ravens network is actually capable of. The lifegiver legend moves into a new kingdom and we see change there as well. All in all a fun read. Look forward to the next book. Read more
Review:There was so much to love in this book. The world she created was amazing with incredible and terrifying creatures, lands filled with so much beauty and darkness, and characters that pulled on your heart. Seeing Lorelei become who she was meant to be and Adrius going against everything his world told him to fight for her kept me from being able to put the book down. Throw in a witch that was so vivid I could just see her standing in front of me doing all those things and there wasn't much to ... Read more
Review:This is a brilliant novel, very funny, yet tragic, very moving, and very observant.
_The Master and Margarita_ is set in Moscow, apparently in the '20s or '30s. One day a couple of literati are talking when they meet a strange man. Before long the man is laughing at there confident assertion that the Jesus and the Devil don't exist, and telling a story about Pontius Pilate and his encounter with Jesus, or Yeshua, and also predicting the death of one of the two men. When the death occurs, t... Read more
Review:I read the Everyman's Library Glenny Translation.
This is a mixture of the bizarre and the familiar. The writing itself is a bit of both, the story subject is a bit of both and the characters are a bit of both. I thoroughly enjoyed the 'flashbacks' and almost wish the whole story was just those events, but I also enjoyed the chaotic and seemingly random way the modern part of the story developed, not that I even fully understood it all, mayhaps a second read is in order. It is not a di... Read more

Review:In Gary Paulsen's novel "Hatchet" Brian Robeson is stranded in the wild and rescued after 54 amazing days.
But what if he hadn't been rescued? What if his luck hadn't held. What if he had t face his deadliest enemy - WINTER? In "Brian's Winter" those aspects of Brian's adventure are explored. He suffers from lack of clothing, hunger (once more), numerous animal encounters (not all pleasant), a battle with a wild animal and much more.
This is a very interesting and exciting book. ... Read more
Review:Who knew a goldfish could set Minli on the adventure of a lifetime?
Minli’s family works hard but are very poor. Yet Minli still finds joy in her life. She is captivated by the stories her father, Ba, tells every night. While Minli delights in her father’s tales, her mother, Ma, does not. Ma sees little use in telling stories of magic and treasure when their life is so dull and dreary. I found it extremely sad to watch Ma’s bitterness taint the happiness Minli found in the stories. In an ... Read more
Review:The second book in The Belgariad series is one in which we learn a whole lot more about the characters. This is where the series really starts to take on a life of its own. The reader really gets a sense of this being a fully formed, realized world that Eddings had created. I can't wait to finish this series. Great for beginning fantasy readers. Read more
Review:Well, as stated by many other readers this book from the Eddings reads much like their other books. In fact it follows the styles, and personalities that have been laid out before.
I however feel that it deserves a decent rating.
After all, granted its been done before. But I feel like its an old friend, I enjoy the humor and I even chuckle when I guess lines/actions prior to reading them.
Its a fun book and decently written, I enjoyed it and will shortly be picking up part ... Read more
