Stern Men
Stern Men

Review:This is a great novel. It takes a moment to become familiarized with lobster fishing, but once Elizabeth Gilbert gets you onboard and up to speed, Stern Mend becomes a book you don't want to ever end. Highly recommended. You'll love it and learn tons at the same time. Read more

Spell Bound (An Otherworld Novel Book 12)
Spell Bound (An Otherworld Novel Book 12)

Review:Ready for the twelfth book in this wonderful series!? Savannah's unforgettable character returns and the reader will be thrown into a world where danger is around every corner and the reader meets more than a few paranormal creatures. The reader should read the first few books in the series in order to fully understand the current plot.

In this novel, Savannah's powers are taken. She is resentful and sullen over this change and the reader will want to shake her more than once. Without ... Read more

Personal Demon
Personal Demon

Review:I'm a big fan of Kelly Armstrong's "Women of the Underworld" series. Each book, until "Personal Demon" has gotten better, richer, and deeper.

When Hope appeared in "No Humans Involved," I didn't really care for the character and hoped that was the last we'd see of her. When I found out "Personal Demon" was centered around Hope, I had some reservations but went ahead and bought it based on past books in the series. (I didn't care much for Paige until "Dime Store Magic" and now she's one of... Read more

Visions (A Cainsville Novel Book 2)
Visions (A Cainsville Novel Book 2)

Review:The book carries on right where Omens leaves off. And it takes the reader further into the lives and mysteries playing out for Armstrong's characters. I thoroughly enjoyed it and only have to say "I want more"! Read more

Stolen
Stolen

Review:Stolen is the first episode in a series where business partners Ben and Robin explore a bondage sexual situation. It is written from Robin's female viewpoint and ends on a cliffhanger to encourage the reader to continue the rest of the story. I knew this from the description, so it was not a surprise although I would rather have a book in one piece rather than piecemeal. It loses something when cut up in bits and pieces in my opinion. The characters were well developed and easy to relate to ... Read more

Living with the Dead (Women of the Otherworld)
Living with the Dead (Women of the Otherworld)

Review:I have not been able to read the last couple of books in this series, even tho Bitten was one of my all time favorite books. This is the first book of the last installments in this series that I have been able to finish. Contrary to most of the reviews, I enjoyed the multiple POVs and third person narration. I felt intellectually challenged by this book. Maybe it was just good timing, but I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Read more

Betrayals (Cainsville)
Betrayals (Cainsville)

Review:I'm always a fan of Kelley Armstrong's writing, but her Cainsville series has been a hit or miss for me. Betrayals was an enjoyable read, but overall I'd have to rank it closer to the miss end of the spectrum.

I'll say right off the bat: love triangles annoy me. If this wasn't a Kelley Armstrong book, I probably wouldn't have picked it up in the first place. When it became clear in the previous books not only that the storyline was setting up Ricky and Gabriel to compete for Olivia's affe... Read more

Thirteen (Otherworld)
Thirteen (Otherworld)

Review:Reading this after having read the preceding books (Bitten, Stolen and Dime Store Magic) means that this time around I have a much stronger feel for the character interactions and how they play off each other (the last time I read this, I hadn't read the first two books). Although it is possible to have read this book after only reading "Dime Store Magic," IMHO it is better to have read all preceding books first.

In "Industrial Magic," children of Cabal employees are being attacked and (... Read more

The Gathering
The Gathering

Review:Anne Enright uses her compelling and unique Irish voice to tell the story of a large Irish family, individually and collectively haunted by its past.

The Gathering refers to the wake that follows the death of Liam, a once-beloved brother and son, whose potential was never realized. Liam's sister, Veronica, examines his senseless death, telling the story of this "embarrassingly" large family by uncovering some of its demons. Veronica narrates from the various perspectives of her present p... Read more

No Humans Involved (Women of the Otherworld)
No Humans Involved (Women of the Otherworld)

Review:I love the books in the Women of the Otherworld series, my favorites being Bitten, Stolen, and Haunted. In her seventh in the series, we have the celebrity necro, Jaime Vegas, who is invited to a house in LA for a TV production on raising spirits. She finds an ulterior motive for the production though and also finds herself trying to escape too much attention being who she is, a member of a council that supervises mortals & otherworldly beings. There is plenty of plot driven intrigue and sex... Read more
