Review:Okay. So.
Honestly?
I was never a fan of Manga.
And I keep wanting to prounounce it Mangma or Magma, but anyway...when my friend lent me this book one day, I just. Couldn't. Stop. Reading. It.
I was happy to know that there were more books in the series, but I wouldn't want to become too obsessed with the whole Manga issue.
After all, they're just animated characters. (;
My suggestion?
Read the whole series at a bookstore, so you won't have to was... Read more
Review:I really enjoyed this book. It was nice having an overview of the previous books just to refresh the memory ;) and the map was really neat to have. Also, the food receipies were neat to have as well. I loved this book. Thanks~!~ Read more
Review:I got this book for my mom because she has read previous books from the same author and she loves these types of books. This is her review:
I read this book and found it interesting. I have read books by these authors before and found this book to be a continuation of their attention to detail. I have found the Gears to be accurate in their portrayal of the way people lived during the time periods they write about. Also, their historical facts are accurate. The only suggestion I have... Review:I actually purchased this book with hesitation due to the description and I was wondering how I was going to read about 3 characters with the same name and not get confused. After reading the first few pages I was hooked! Although we can only speculate what happened so long ago, this author does an excellent job of telling the story, which spans over millions of years, in such a way that you feel a part of each character. Full of adventure, joy, danger, violence of man and nature, and love, t... Read more
Review:While vacationing in Sedona, Az I went to find an historical fiction to connect me to the ancient inhabitants I was learning about in this incredible area.
This book is not the connection I'd hoped for. While the physical environs were well researched and covered in her book, for me Shuler's character's were unbelievable and simplistic. The story was not interesting and I found myself easily distracted while reading. I finished it mostly because I was on vacation with few other options.
Review:received the hardback copy in less than a week. my paperbacks were looking pretty rough and the hardback is larger print. love the entire series and read them annually. I need a good vacation back in time that I get reading these books. Read more
Review:This genre of fiction is not my preferred type, but having said that, I thought this book was well written and well researched. As stated in some of the other reviews, the work reminded me somewhat of "The Clan of the Cavebear" series of many years ago, especially the second book of that series. There are no sexual undertones in this book (like in "The Cave Bear" books), which would make it an ideal book for the 10 to 15 year age range and in my opinion, this should be the target audience. It is... Read more
Review:while the story was good there was way to much repeating of previous material. i don't think i have ever read a book with this much repeating in it and yes sometimes repeating can be nessasary in this case it was to much. if she had cut out half of the repeating this would have been a four book series and if she would have cut that in half it would have been a three book series that would have been a five star rating and went down as a classic book of all time. i'm not sure if the author was un... Review:I received a very small book. I was not made aware of this while I ordered the book. I never realized there were small books with tiny printing. This is very disconcerting, especially to my 71 year old eyes! Read more
Review:After reading "Water for Elephants" I was eager to read another book by Sara Gruen. She did not disappoint me. Her characters are memorable. The story is intriguing. A research project involving bonobos and sign language is destroyed by what seems to be animal rights activists. It turns out to be another group with a completely different agenda. The bonobos were the best part of the story for me, but the human characters were well developed also. Read more
