Review:The grammar in this book is awful.
And the stories literally jump all over the place, with no rhyme or reason as to why.
Yet...it's endearing.
You can literally hear Drew, in our valley girl-esque voice, whispering these stories to you as you read.
And because I happen to love Drew Barrymore (we're even the same age), I really enjoyed her off-the-wall stories. This book makes her seem less "daughter of the great Barrymore legacy" and more "stay at home mom with a wild past."<... Read more
Review:If NJO continues down this road...I'll never ever stop reading these books. The exploration and exploitation of Jacen was phenomenal. It took awhile to get rid of his whinyness, but it's a good thing. The philisophical side of the book has forced me to read it several times already. Things will never be the same in the Jedi Universe. I have to agree with most other reviewers that the series slowed down too much in the middle books but has come back at light speed to keep us all interested. ... Read more
Review:First Date: Okay, this could be a really hot date! I enjoyed the introduction to this new world of Chloe Neill’s, filled with fae and plenty of other paranormal critters, and set in the sultry city of New Orleans. While it wasn’t the fastest-paced beginning (hey, not a bad thing when it goes slow at the beginning. Anticipation is all part of the tease.), I really got into Claire’s life in a post-apocalyptic New Orleans. It wasn’t as hard-hitting a beginning as the Chicagoland Vamp series (hard t... Read more
Review:This being the fourth in the series I kind of knew the books read a little slow at times and there's never a lot of action. My main reason for reading this was to see if she and Ethan finally worked anything out.
**spoiler alert**
So needless to say I was very disappointed when out of nowhere and in the blink of an eye - he gets staked! Really? And then it was oh so easy for her to stake the vampire that staked Ethan.. this all so powerful female vamp that she feared so much? I... Read more
Review:As reviewed on KayFrayBooks
It would have been easy for Merit to slip into the role of whiny heroine. I’ve found that a lot of books lean towards the complainer, mistaking complaints as angst or even conflict to keep the plot interesting,
I am happy to report that it was not the case with Some Girls Bite. Sure, Merit feels some growing pains. Who wouldn’t? But what does she do? She gets up, dusts herself off, and does what needs to be done… with her own Merit flair of course.
Review:The story was long for the central plot. There was no creativity in writing and it felt flat and monotonous circling around the scrappy life Asher had.. I mean i get it that it was about things going really south before hope starts and all that but there was seriously not much to the story. Read more
Review:This was a hard book to read. Includes story of horrible child abuse. I do not enjoy reading about situations such as that. I see enough of this kind of dark, twisted violence against children in my everyday job. I loved the love story portion but could not deal with the abuse that went along with it. I guess if you can read it and think it's fiction you can get through it, but things like this happen to children on a daily basis and it's not something I care to read about in my spare time.... Review:Fabulous futuristic setting, terrific character development. I was, however, completely taken aback by the abrupt ending, having no idea it was intended to be part of a series. Imho, a "next in series" blurb should have followed that final chapter to give readers some context. Otherwise, the ending is far too abrupt and not at all believable. The character development of the final chapter's character in no way prepared me to believe that she has the skills and capability to right a wrong of that... Read more
Review:I am an avid historical fiction reader and I LOVE THIS BOOK!! This is the 2nd I've read by this author (1st was "Long Knife" which was about George Rogers Clark's peaceful but painful conquest of the "northwest territories" during the Revolutionary War and his own personal tragedies afterwards) and I am in AWE of the amount of TRUE HISTORY in Mr Thom's books! The emotion and suspense are felt deep in this reader's soul! "From Sea to Shining Sea" is the story of the entire Clark family (1st half... Read more
