Review:This is certainly an interesting story and a poignant look at the way mass hysteria can shape a culture. Though it was written during the Communist witch hunt in America and written about Puritan times, it certainly can be applied to modern times. It’s interesting to read through this and see that though the times may change, humans are rather unchangeable. Read more
Review:It was okay but kind of disappointing. I think that it was written to put an end to these characters story lines without actually killing them off, which is ok because I don't want to see them die but other than that it didn't seem to have much of a point. Read more
Review:Another great read from Mark Goodwin!
I enjoyed Book 1 very much. Book 2 was even better. The realism was rather frightening at times, and I grimaced many times while listening. Some of the books in this genre are so out there that it is hard to imagine yourself in the protagonists' position - not this book. It felt very real and left me wondering how I would handle a situation like this.
Looking forward to book 3! The only thing I am hoping for is a conclusion to the story - pleas... Read more
Review:This is a great piece of fantasy fiction. With unique ideas and we'll crafted characters. The story is well told, well written and unfolds in a manner that frequently sidesteps obvious story arcs and continually surprises the reader. I'm looking forward to the further chapters in this tale. Read more

Review:The story slowly proceeds from where book 1 ended. Written in the same style, a bit more is happening. If you like book 1, you like book 2.
I do hope the protagonist starts using his brain a bit. He keeps talking about attacks from the sea, so why does he stick around at the coast? And for aliens not caring about his fate and worried about the impact his presence will have on the culture and technology, he happened to land in the exact right spot... Read more
Review:Really well done! I liked this one oh so much better then "Tongues of Serpents" - it had a quick pace, and time flew as I read it on buses and trains while commuting. I love books like this! But she is not done yet, there are clearly more books to come, as the overarching story of the war is not yet concluded. I am looking forward to more! Read more
Review:In Our Time is a complex series of short stories, compiled into one book, that takes place in the era of World War I, but contains concepts and ideas that can be applied to any time period. While complex, Hemingway's short stories contain deeper meanings that can relate to a variety of audiences. I recommend these short stories for someone who is willing to dedicate a large chunk of time to reading and understanding a story. By merely skimming through this, you will not be able to comprehend the... Read more
Review:This book will make a good movie, would I see it? No I won't.

Review:I thought this book was lacking in two respects. First, I felt the portrait of that time in Paris when Hemingway was trying to break through was not very detailed. Many other books, most notably Hemingway's posthumous memoir, A Moveable Feast, better capture the atmosphere of Paris in the 1920s. So if a reader is seeking to understand that particular time in Paris, this is not the book. Second, the author states often that Hemingway was a "revolutionary" writer, but does not really back up t... Read more
