Gallows Thief: A Novel
Gallows Thief: A Novel

Review:While I am a fan of Cornwell's books based in much earlier ages, and not much of a fan of his american history based series, this one is a BIG exception.

This is a wounderfully told story that captivated my attention early in the book and held it throughout - realistic and slightly disreputable hero much like the characters who are heros of the founding of our country ..... Washinton, Jefferson, Franklin, etc.... who ends up serving his country despite himself... ala Carey Grant in Gone w... Read more

Vagabond (The Grail Quest, Book 2)
Vagabond (The Grail Quest, Book 2)

Review:Again, a fascinating period of history is brought to vivid life by a writer who, I think, must have been there. I see and hear and smell what is happening in his word pictures and, as always, there is a great deal happening.

I really like Cornwell's writing. Nothing jars, nothing distracts, there is nothing missing that should be there and nothing superfluous that should have been edited out. Read more

The Archer's Tale (The Grail Quest, Book 1)
The Archer's Tale (The Grail Quest, Book 1)

Review:Unbelievable! A true disappointment. I have read all of the Saxon Tales and this is a disaster. A
very loose plot, So many loose ends that went nowhere! The ten books from the Saxon Tales
has a clear, concise plot that ran through all ten books. How could Cornwell even put this in print?
The Holy Grail was barely mentioned. The lance became the main focus-----NOT the grail! I
expected the same quality as the Saxon Tales and what a sorry excuse this book is!

The only thin... Read more

Excalibur (The Warlord Chronicles)
Excalibur (The Warlord Chronicles)

Review:because unfortunately the story ends here. I wish it didn't, however, it is the most rewarding series on historical fiction I have ever read. If you were smart, you bought all three so there was no wait time between them. I had to start with Winter King to see if it was good, and after the first chapter, I ordered the other two. Read more

September 1803 (Richard Sharpe's Adventure Series #2)

Review:This is another in the Sharpe series of books and it is as entertaining and as exciting as all of them are. This series is historically correct and reminds one of the great stories that so captivates a reader such as the Flashman and Hornblower classics of the past. A great read!! Read more

Fools and Mortals: A Novel
Fools and Mortals: A Novel

Review:37-Fools and Mortals by Bernard Cornwell (Novel-E Book-Fiction) 5* Welcome to the War of the Theaters...Bernard Cornwell style. Perhaps it's not the actual main event that history mentions but it is a very close re-creation of the history of the theater and the competitiveness between the different houses to obtain the most patrons and audiences..where money is to be made the stakes are high. In this work the author gives the reader Richard Shakespeare, yes the younger brother of famous Willi... Read more
