The Lemoncholy Life of Annie Aster
The Lemoncholy Life of Annie Aster

Review:I wish e author hadn't tried for a Victorian style the result was so stilted that I had to scan perhaps half of the book. The core idea was intriguing (that's why I bought it), but this reads like a very rough first draft. I wish the author had revised several more times. I really wanted to care about the characters, but they're all really flat. Read more

Shadow's Edge: The Night Angel Trilogy, 2
Shadow's Edge: The Night Angel Trilogy, 2

Review:The first book in the Night Angel series was good enough to continue on to the second book. More than anything, I was curious what would happen to the characters and how things would change. Here are my thoughts. *SPOILER ALERT*

The Way of Shadows ended with the Godking from Khalidor initiating a successful coup against the Cenarian royalty. Kylar has killed his master, Durzo, and is now ready to start a new life with the love of his life, Elene. Of course, things don’t work out that way,... Read more

Beyond the Shadows: The Night Angel Trilogy, 3
Beyond the Shadows: The Night Angel Trilogy, 3

Review:i really enjoyed the first book in the series. i slogged through the second, and for enduring a tediously poorly written book (excessive sex, fbombs, lame characters etc) i was rewarded with a satisfying end. i had hope for the third book but my 'god', its so damn boring.i am only 220 pages into it and every turn of the page gets me one moment closer to slipping into a coma.

i dunno.. maybe it's just me. maybe i just expect too much from an author. Read more

The Night Angel Trilogy - The Way of Shadows
The Night Angel Trilogy - The Way of Shadows

Review:I started reading this series because it popped on the recommended list. I have enjoyed many other fantasy books such as Robert Jordan's series. The story and plot pulled me in and I would have liked to see how it ended. The constant repetition of the f word finally became too much, however, and I had to stop reading it. I would not recommend it to anyone who finds vulgar language offensive. Read more

The Jane Austen Project: A Novel
The Jane Austen Project: A Novel

Review:This book gave me all the feels!! I was very sorry to see this novel come to an end. It was exciting, entertaining, surprisingly sexy, and very creative.

I have been a Jane Austen fan my whole life, but it’s been many years since I read one of her books (or watched a movie adaptation). It was lovely to be re-immersed in her life. The novel plunges the reader into the sights, sounds, and smells of England in the early 1800s, and it’s even more interesting that we get to view this world fro... Read more

Born to Be Wilde: The Wildes of Lindow Castle
Born to Be Wilde: The Wildes of Lindow Castle

Review:I feel as though I am being disloyal to this great author. I have thoroughly enjoyed her previous books but this one just didn't cut it for me. This book had great potential, I felt it did not concentrate enough on the hero and heroine. Too much dialogue with secondary characters. I had to re-read the first sex scene, it was too sudden, it felt disjointed, hurried and totally disappointing. I couldn't finish this book, sorry! Read more

My Fair Lily (The Farthingale Series Book 1)

Review:I read this very quickly and immediately downloaded the next book in the series. Entertaining from the first chapter. I'm a sucker for "blue stocking as heroine" story lines and this one didn't disappoint. Read more

Bareknuckle Bastards Book 1 - Wicked and the Wallflower
Bareknuckle Bastards Book 1 - Wicked and the Wallflower

Review:Sarah, your books never disappoint! The past, the present, and the future brought together with Devon and his poor, little rich girl. She literally had him from the moment she opened her mouth! Her light was able to break through his darkness! The lock picker unlocked his heart. From the first, he sets his plan into action, she also sets her plan into place. They were so enchanted with each other. A FABULOUS love story!
Tap, tap! This book was wonderfully written. Each word and though... Read more

Potent Pleasures
Potent Pleasures

Review:The cover of this book is lovely-- I hope publishers take note of how tasteful and appealing such covers can be.
The book itself has some power, some emotion, but reads pretty much like a first draft. I'm not a big Regency reader, but even I noticed mistakes everywhere, like the major who is about to become an admiral (presumably he's going to have to switch from the army to the navy first), and all the British girls in the latest French fashions when they've been at war with France for 1...
