Review:I decided not to finish this book. I rarely do that-and I generally read and finish about 4-5 novels a month.
I found it was depressing and although books I enjoy don't all have to be a ray of sunshine--I could see that this was not going to
let up-so I got rid of it.
I share all my finished books--but I did not want to pass this on. Read more
Review:Wonderful storyteller telling a wonderful story. Just when I thought I could not read a better book set in India and Kashmir, along comes Ms. Roy and blows me away with another wonderful tale set in that exotic, mysterious place. Thank you Ms. Roy. Read more
Review:I have not quite finished reading it, but so far, I am thoroughly enjoying it. It may help that I am a die-hard history buff, and the details of the time, especially as it relates to mixed-race families are compelling and fascinating. Read more
Review:This series was awesome!!! If you are a fan of the fantasy genre then you will not be disappointed by this series! The main character is so awesome that it was a little disappointing when books #2 and #3 switch to multiple point of views, but all the characters are great and any true fantasy reader is used to the pro's and con's of following multiple characters. Review:Since this book. I have finished the entire series. How Terry Brooks ties all the stories together was masterful. Read them all!!!! Do not skip any. And for the purpose of the series. Read them in order! You get a lot more insight as to the situations the characters face and gain a knowledge of their fate and their need to face their challenges! Love it fully! Read more
Review:This was a great book! Loved it from beginning to end. So many of the issues happened while I was growing up. Some of it was before I was born. But the election of Kennedy and his assination happened when I first started Jr. High. There was a lot of history that I remember. This is one of my favorite Steele books. Read more
Review:Interesting to me as I grew up in the fifties in the fifties. I knew some of the people mentioned in the book and it was eye opening to me.
There was not all that much about Buffalino as a person. It seems to me to be more about facts gleaned from news or reports than a personal story of he Quiet Don. Read more
Review:This is an excellently dark story butt not my cup of tea. I can't read fantasy gothic novels if they lack an regular element of delight or humour and this book is consistently distressed. Unlike gaiman novels or many others, it was too unrelenting, too much one side of life,I couldn't read it. Read more
Review:I really enjoyed the book and would recommend reading it, however the reason I didn't give it 5 stars, was I thought towards the end it drew out a little too long. Other than that it was an enjoyable read and I would encourage reading it. Almost a 5 star rating, I would say a strong 4 plus stars, read it!!!!! Read more
Review:I have a peculiar reason for reading this book. The author's name was not familiar with me until I read some Mark Knopfler interview around the time his Sailing to Philadelphia came out. The title song was written after he read Mason & Dixon. Well, lacking something to read, I found this book in a very small second-hand shop in downtown Helsinki. Here are my remarks so far:
For a non-native speaker (I am Dutch) the English Pynchon employs, although seemingly authentic, is rather difficult... Read more
