Review:H.H. the Dalai Lama presents a worldview of science, ethics, and spirituality. As he explores science, his knowledge is tempered by ethical concerns. He insists that science is an integral knowledge to the understanding the world, however, it must converge with spirituality and ethics. He rejects an aspect of Darwinian evolution, natural selection. A bird, for example, who feeds its nest, is viewed as simply a selfish act for preservation as well as the evolution of the species. This leaves no r... Read more
Review:After two readings, this book will sit on my nightstand for a third. Martin's approach is simple - which is not to say easy. It is a wonderful meditation, and I expect that I will continue to get something new and inspiring from every re-reading. Meanwhile, the book has given me a whole new reading list of books on a variety of related subjects including Mertin, Nouwen and others. Read more
Review:A dialogue between two thoughtful world views in an approach toward understanding and reason on both sides of the debate about the place of religion in the modern world. An easy to grasp overview of a complex and fraught topic. Sam Harris' voice is unique and always stimulating. Read more
Review:This is an incredibly important work that should be widely read by those interested in the clash between the West and the Middle East that caught the West off guard on September 11th, 2001. The clash goes all the way back to the very beginnings of Islam and the manner in which the Islamic religion and culture were spread by force, treachery and extortion throughout the Middle East, North Africa and eventually Spain. It only took 79 years from the death of Muhammad for the armies of Islam to beg... Read more
Review:This book was very powerful. Kudos to Rebecca Missed for having the strength and courage to escape and fight the FLDS. I shall forever be changed. We need to be aware of the insidious crimes that are going on around our sheltered lives. We are all children of God and deserve the respect, that stems from that truth and honor. Read more
Review:As a native born American, I found this book titled, The Killing of Uncle Sam, alarming. I have never doubted that the government and all its employees are corrupt, that is a given. This book brought those thoughts even deeper and stronger within my soul. While reading the facts of this nation’s history and not as taught in school, through media, or just words in conversations with others, but what really happened is nausiating to even comprehend how our presidents who are supposedly be for the ... Review:A solid read that clearly outlines the gospel. Do not expect a theological treatise but a readable work for everyone in the church. Brief interaction with philosophies that seek to replace the centrality of the cross in the gospel. A good book to get started on the central truths of the gospel and start thinking about what threatens those truths even within the church. Read more
Review:I just recently finished “What is Reformed Theology: Understanding the Basics” by R.C. Sproul. I don’t know much about Reformed Theology because I’m a Wesleyan pastor, but I often get questions from my students, wondering what the difference in other denominations is so I wanted to learn. Overall I believe this to be a well written book. From a theology standpoint I understood what the book was communicating. It did outline the basics. However, I was slightly disappointed with its presentat... Read more

Review:Having never heard of the cult Children of God, I found this book to be absolutely heart breaking at times. The lives these children lived were absolutely miserable. Although these girls suffered from dire circumstances, the end of the story offers a valuable lesson on religion and family. Great book! Read more
