Review:I have several books by Julie Garwood. In this one the female character was different, not usual weak and submissive, I liked that a lot. I did not feel that the beginning was dragged out as some reviews said, in fact I rather liked the two girls forming friendship, their dialogue was humorous. Review:I find that in many of the historical romances that I read, the hero and heroine are at odds the majority of the book and you don't have as much of an opportunity to enjoy their relationship. Review:I expected more from this book. It hardly measures up to WHITNEY, MY LOVE, and I don't see how it got a 4.5 star rating. The first half of the novel seemed promising, but my hopes were squashed by the heroine. At first, her pride and loyalty to her family was touching, but it got old real fast. I didn't enjoy watching Royce suffer and it was hard for me to believe she loved him if she could continue to hurt him.
