Review:While not always super in depth on some topics, most will give the reader a pretty solid understanding of a bike style, systems and terms. A riding course will probable make much more sense and help put what this book covers into play more completely. I have been riding for 28+ yrs and still enjoyed the read. I gave it 4 stars because I felt the Authors could have added some more personal experiences with "Oh crap" moments that would benefit the reader. An interesting side note is I have a h... Read more
Review:This is a spellbinding book -- a stunning mix of science and the spirit -- that reads like a modern-day version of "The Right Stuff." Like that classic, "Spaceship" is filled with quirky, fascinating characters who make history right before our eyes. Author Julian Guthrie clearly gains amazing access to all of these trailblazers and shows a mastery of her subject. She has written a masterpiece, full of both technical wizardry and humanity, that will appeal to rocket geeks and general audiences a... Read more
Review:you will have a better understand of just how dangerous being involved with the sea is. You will also understand just how the Men (and now Women) of the Coast Guard do their work in all kinds of weather. Day in, day out, they are people who live so that others may also live another day to battle the sea. Read more
Review:It was a pleasure reading this book simply for the fact that it includes a number of topics which are not usually included in similar books, such as Body Dynamics, the element of fear etc.
The plain english is easy to follow and the figures clearly explain anything that might seem overly complicated when read for the first time.
This is truly a book for the rider who wants to better him/herself and its a pitty it does not leave space for small notes for the reader to jot down to us... Read more
Review:I owned and rode motorcycles over 30 years ago. I had both dirt bikes and road bikes and was comfortable riding in all conditions. I sold my last road bike shortly after starting a family. Recently, I purchased another motorcycle and since I had let the motorcycle endorsement on my driver's license lapse, I enrolled in ABATE Basic Riders Course, which is affiliated with Motorcycle Safety Foundation to earn it back. This book was praised by the instructors as a source for further reading. I ... Read more

Review:I have read, in forum discussions, that this book is helpful for improved riding technique whether track or street. I saw no street application at all. And I don't think there was any profound information about riding on a track. This is a text book ment to be used when taking a beginner's racing course. Read more
Review:Gripping courtroom drama involving a mysterious boating accident, a fascinating search for the truth, and a climatic trail to reach a verdict. The tragic boating accident which begins the book happened just outside San Francisco in the Pacific in an area renown for rough seas and rapid changes to ocean conditions. What began as an accident quickly became a hard fought court case between the widow of the captain of the boat and the relatives of his guests. From the perspective of the attorney ... Read more
Review:I bought this book to help plan mineral collecting trips when visiting AZ. The color coded trail ratings are very helpful for my planning as I am more interested in getting to my destination than challenging my vehicle. I have not yet used the book but am looking forward to putting it to good this winter. From what I have seen thus far I highly recommend it! Read more
Review:Andy Grove has a way of distilling the complex down to very very simple concepts - and he doesn't allude to big ideas - he just tells it straight. Exactly what works and why. I have bought copies of this book to give to colleagues and staff and indeed we have modelled some of our business practises straight out of the book - why not? Its clear, concise, practical and proven. I really cannot recommend this book enough. If you run a company or manage people within one you should read this book. Th... Read more
