Keith Code does an excellent job of explaining the dynamics of riding performance motorcycles. His insights are beneficial to riders of all skill levels. I recommend this book to any rider who wants to improve their riding technique.

For newbie bikers trying to develop confidence and basic skills, "Proficient Motorcycling" and "The MSF Guide to Motorcycling Excellence" are better choices. For those with significant experience who find that they keep making the same mistakes, or struggling with the same fears and reactions, this book has a lot to offer. As many readers have said, the ridiculous definitions make this book tedious and hard to take. The amazing thing is that this is the sixth printing and these condescending and idiotic definitions are still here! [...]

Fortunately I came across this book when I started riding. Aside from 2 MSF courses I knew almost nothing of riding motorcycles but because I respected the ever present danger I decided to take this book to heart and really understand the material.

Well, the second it arrived, my bf borrowed it to read it first. I'm still waiting for him to finish it then I'll finally get to begin reading it and will have to edit this review after I have finished it :)

A lot of good information* but how distracting* is it to read this sentence* with these stupid* asterisks? Keith's teaching method (according to the introduction) is to have his students look up the definition of certain words. The book continues with this practice and defines the asterisked words at the end of each chapter. That's all well and good except that some of the words he decides to asterisk and define don't really need it and the practice is overused. Really, who doesn't know, or at least grasp, the meaning of the following words? Suspicious, calculate, deceptive, depend, technology, mechanically, and on and on. Sentences with multiple asterisks, pointing out words defined at the end of the chapter, that really do not need defining, are a huge distraction to the read. I am still giving this book 4 stars for its over all content. Even with the asterisks, you can see that the material is well developed to define "riding technology" and put it in an easy to understand format.

Super informative. Now when I read about peoples accidents I can tell what they did wrong. Braking in a turn, no throttle control. The book is fantastic. Cover looks a little 80's-90's but the inside is awesome. Fantastic. I can't put it down. I feel so confident about riding. Don't have the money for it? Maybe not eat fast food for a couple of weeks. You won't regret it. Fantastic. The DVD is amazing as well. Eliminates any of the myths you have heard about how to turn the bike, when to turn, what to do in a turn. Which is where most people have their accidents. Check it out. I would easily pay $30 for this book.

The book was great, but having just done the California Superbike School (Day 1) which is based on the book. I thoroughly recommend you enroll and do the course.
It is the best money you will ever spend on your bike.

This book seems to be only for "professional bikers". I'm not a professional (or amateur) racer; I only use my bike inside the city and on highways, so why should I learn taking a corner at 150 mph! It does not cover the problems found in everyday city traffic, so I couldn't get any benefit from reading it. I do not recommend it for beginners and those who want to know more about driving safely in city traffic.

This book is helpful itself, but there is one thing I just don't understand, why is this author keeping defining very common words like 'force', 'design', 'standard', 'device', 'value', etc....does he have an unfulfilled dream of becoming a lexicologist?

Amazing book! Recommend to everyone who seeks improvement of his/her riding techniques. I started with the television series of "California Superbike school UK", continued with the DVD ("A Twist of the Wrist II") and after mastering this one, will definitely continue with other two books of the author.
