Moon Tortured (Sky Brooks Series Book 1)
Moon Tortured (Sky Brooks Series Book 1)

Review:This book has been on my to buy list for the past year and thanks to Kindle Unlimited, I finally was able to check it out. The story starts out rather slow and there is lots of questions to answer but half way in the novel, I was hooked. Skylar is a likeable main heroine and she does some growing up throughout the book and I am looking forward to reading what's next in store for her. Read more

Changes (Dresden Files)
Changes (Dresden Files)

Review:Easily the best of an already great series so far. It's rare to find an author that can keep a series so engaging for so long, let alone successfully build upon and change all the established plot threads and continue from there. Read more

Dead Beat (The Dresden Files, Book 7)
Dead Beat (The Dresden Files, Book 7)

Review:Thank gawd for a surprise in this book! I like the Harry character. He's getting older and seasoned in his craft. Thus, it is time for an attitude adjustment. The 'sensitive' warrior personality coupled with constant self-doubt is getting old. Jeez, Harry is a White Council Warden now! He is required to act like a seasoned wizard able to provide guidance and mentoring to the newbies. The Blue Beetle should be fondly 'let-go' and be replaced by a Jeep or Harley reflecting elevated status and ... Read more

Turn Coat (The Dresden Files, Book 11)
Turn Coat (The Dresden Files, Book 11)

Review:The book is a great read. Jim Butcher does it again. Great story line with amazing twists. Also explains a lot of the council's functions that I never quite got in the other books. Can't wait to read the next one. Read more

Summer Knight (Dresden Files)
Summer Knight (Dresden Files)

Review:Once again JB starts off the book with a storm...of raining toads! I like the writing style that creates hard to put down books. Each chapter begins in the middle of a sequence of events that may include a conversation or an action sequence from the previous chapter. Great stuff for fantasy/investigative novelists. Read more

The Dresden Files: Welcome to the Jungle
The Dresden Files: Welcome to the Jungle

Review:First and foremost, this is exactly what it claims to be...I have knocked it two points, because it really isn't very long, and frankly overpriced for what it is. The art is fine to good. The story is a good short story quality piece, that is a nice fun read. Did I mention it was short? Read more

Brief Cases (Dresden Files)
Brief Cases (Dresden Files)

Review:Most of these I have ready previously. None seemed as well crafted as the books. Felt a little as if I was a convenient wallet being opened... Also, not fond of the weirdness going on with Maggie... Just wanting my good old Harry Dresden books back on track again! Read more

Working for Bigfoot
Working for Bigfoot

Review:Pro: Jim Butchers stories! Fun and frantic! Waiting the next Dresden novel. Note, I stated "novel" not "appetizer."

Cons: I paid HOW MUCH for this?!? It's tiny!!! Damn...I should have gotten the Kindle version.

Lesson: ALWAYS read the description before mashing the Add to Cart button. Read more

Grave Peril (The Dresden Files, Book 3)
Grave Peril (The Dresden Files, Book 3)

Review:I was assured that the series would pick up by the third book. While some slight improvements have been made (allies are no longer the main hindrance, Harry is facing some of his many character flaws) the story isn't much better. Still too much reliance on weak premises for conflict (how many times is he going to drop his staff and wand?) , deus ex machina, and flat characters. I really want to like these book but I just don't. The premise is fantastic then is wasted on poorly conceived foes ... Read more

Blood Rites (The Dresden Files, Book 6)
Blood Rites (The Dresden Files, Book 6)

Review:When I first started reading this series, the first thing that came to mind was that this was an Anita Blake clone, only with a male protagonist instead of a female one. After six books, my impression hasn't yet changed much. Despite this, I have enjoyed the series very much as Butcher has managed to match (and surpass in recent books) the bar set by the excellent Laurell Hamilton. Read more
