Friendship and Survival in Auschwitz - A Story of Resistance
Friendship and Survival in Auschwitz - A Story of Resistance

Review:Moorehead's accounting of the French resistance people, and especially the young women, is heart-breaking. It is hard to believe that the world went through such a horrible experience. The descriptions of the death camps by those who survived are not sugar-coated. Moorehead gives such detailed descriptions, as told by the women who lived through it, the reader fully grasps the horror. Read more

The True Story of a French Jewish Spy in Nazi Germany
The True Story of a French Jewish Spy in Nazi Germany

Review:The book arrived in perfect condition and I was impressed with the service from Amazon. Unfortunately I found the story line disappointing. At some points in the book her story contradicts itself and has grown to enormously ridiculous proportions. Having some first hand knowledge of the war theatre in which she sets herself I found many scenario questionable.

That being said, I applaud hers and everyone's efforts large or small who helped in that savage war. However, I cannot recommen... Read more

Survival In Auschwitz
Survival In Auschwitz

Review:While teaching high school English Literature, I thought we needed to read the book instead of an excerpt...
It is amazing how my students reacted... instead of rage they have displayed a loving gesture: they have been taking a minute of silence in the beggining of each of my classes... to remember those who did and did not survive Auschwitz. Read more

The Choice: Embrace the possible
The Choice: Embrace the possible

Review:A deeply personal and professionally enlightening account of survival and liberation. A book anybody troubled with sorrow and/or anger, an overly critical and negative self image can learn from. It’s honest and compelling with a lot to teach us all how to be better human beings. Read more

What Ever Happened to the Good News? - Vanishing Grace

Review:Very readable, revealing, and applicable to the times we live in. I loved "What's So Amazing About Grace?", and thought "Vanishing Grace" was just as valuable. Yancey writes in a style that flows as it reveals. Read more

Volume I - Our Oriental Heritage - The Story of Civilization
Volume I - Our Oriental Heritage - The Story of Civilization

Review:The Durants succeed again in encapsulating the 17th century in Europe. They label it as the landmark century intellectually and scientifically and there is much truth to their assessment: the 18th Century, the "Enlightenment" and "Aufklarung" usually takes pride of place given the American and French Revolutions that dominated them and the general retreat of superstition and obscurantism that marred both Catholicism and Protestantism in the previous centuries. The Durants clearly show that all... Read more

A True Courtroom Drama of Tragedy at Sea - The Widow Wave
A True Courtroom Drama of Tragedy at Sea - The Widow Wave

Review:Gripping courtroom drama involving a mysterious boating accident, a fascinating search for the truth, and a climatic trail to reach a verdict. The tragic boating accident which begins the book happened just outside San Francisco in the Pacific in an area renown for rough seas and rapid changes to ocean conditions. What began as an accident quickly became a hard fought court case between the widow of the captain of the boat and the relatives of his guests. From the perspective of the attorney ... Read more
