Review:The was well crafted. From the first sentence I was drawn into the story. There were parts when I was not sure where things were going. I never was clear about the light and her fear of the light. I finally figured it had to do with when she was first injured. The ending was not my favorite. I perfer endings that resolve letting you know what happens.
The ending is haunting and tends to stay with you and to me that makes a good book. Overall I liked the book. Read more
Review:I just could not wait until this book was release, the book is slow at first then picks up, the ending is a true surprise, it does not explain why the king of vampires is now a book, because I do not buy the fact that he would have stop the queen because he loved her so much. I am hoping that the next book to this series explains in great detail why the king of vampire which is Sinclair is a book and reunites him as a person instead of a book. Read more
Review:Julie James is an excellent writter, but please she should keep politics aside., I want to read a true romance novel with intense and funny characters without seen liberals and republicans remarks showing up. Overall I enjoyed this book but it could've been better. Read more
Review:This is the beginning of a new series for Shelly, even though you feel there will be at least one crossover with her other series. This series has humor and a nice heroine and hero. I know that it is a series, but I felt I was left hanging at the end of the book, even though I know the bad dudes will be back in the following books in this series. The dog, Brodie Hawaii, is fantastic! Read more
Review:This was a very enjoyable Agatha Christie book (as usual). I really like the short stories because you could put the book down for a while and then pick it up again and read another story. Each story was interesting and enjoyable. Thanks again for a great Agatha Christie book. Read more
Review:..and his name, of course, is Clive Barker. My five-star rating is for the entire book, which consists of both the novella "Cabal", and four short stories which make up volume 6 of the "Book's of Blood".
For the actual story "Cabal" itself-a man who is tricked into thinking that he's commited a series of brutal murders by his psychiatrist tries to kill himself, fails, ends up in a mental institution where another patient claims he belongs in a place called "Midian". The main character escapes... Read more
Review:Despite being very gross, it just didn't provide a good scare. No suspense, just gross-out. Felt like a moody college student's final paper in a creative writing class where he would have received a C-. It was a total flop at our book club, and we are a group that enjoys Stephen King, Joe Hill, science fiction and the like. Read more
Review:P.D. James has a knack for creating puzzles. These holiday short stories combine the intrigue of crime solving, the charm of carefully crafted characters, and the strong framework of a well written tale. Read more
Review:This was an excellent set of science fiction short stories from the past. I came back to science fiction after a 40+ year hiatus, and the stories were as wonderful and full of enchantment as I remembered. I recommend the book for the thought provoking ideas and for the link to the present day world. The themes of the stories and the problems of the world do not change. Read more
