The story and ending is satisfying, but it created more questions to answer, and I agree it leaves you wanting more. It is quick paced and the narrative gives vivid mind images. I dropped a star only because I struggled with Mary's age, which seemed quite young at first. I love the significance and imagery of the lights.

From the very first sentence you are wondering, "what will happen next?" Just the right length for a cup of coffee, and just what in needed on a cool Saturday morning as I snuggle under a blanket before the kids wake up. Thank you for the virtual adventure.

This was a great short story! Got into the characters right off and loved the mystery of it all. The setting seemed true to the Victorian time setting. No jolting out of period dialogue or out of place back story. Just really wish there was more to the story. I did receive this story free for the review. It was worth the time.

This was a free download in exchange for an honest review from Story Cartel.
It was a decent, if a little confusing, story.
But I'm afraid it wasn't for me. I don't know what I was expecting, perhaps some magic or something supernatural... I don't know. I was just left wanting something it couldn't offer.

I've never met such wonderful characterization. The story itself was almost overshadowed by the characters, I felt, but it is definitely worth reading for the sake of meeting these characters. (I received this story for free in return for my unbiased review.)

A good short story by a talented author. Considering that this is a short story, I found the characters to be well defined, believable, and well placed in the story. Certainly entertaining enough that I will be reading more from this author.

The ending is haunting and tends to stay with you and to me that makes a good book. Overall I liked the book.
