Universe: The Definitive Visual Guide

Review:The book provides a dual-action way to learn with children. The photos and the explanations fit well together and there is enough depth for all ages. the book is well organized, material is presented in a logical manner. Read more

Adventures in the Strange Science of Sleep
Adventures in the Strange Science of Sleep

Review:I read this book simply for leisure- honestly, because I thoroughly enjoy a good nap, and as a self-proclaimed sleep enthusiast, I thought it might be interesting. I was right, this book is fascinating. I learned a lot, though it's a bit disconcerting to discover how little scientists actually know about the science of sleep. It's a pretty easy read, the facts and figures don't bog it down too much. They're all relevant and incorporated in a skillful way, so I finished this book in a day or two. Read more

The Plan to Settle the Red Planet and Why We Must
The Plan to Settle the Red Planet and Why We Must

Review:This book is very good; everything is laid out in a good, logical fashion & everything is thoroughly explained. The book is completely convincing that a cheap, efficient Mars program is entirely possible right now.
It is because of this that reading the book is very frustrating. Why frustrating? Because while reading the book, one realizes that the only thing keeping humanity from colonizing Mars is ignorance, political wrangling, and public apathy.
Incidentally, the book that got me... Read more

Biology
Biology

Review:Book as advertised, but seems to be "sprung" - meaning the cover is askew, almost like it has been twisted. It doesn't affect the quality of the book, but makes it seem odd when you handle it. Pages and binding are in good shape. Read more

Undeniable: Evolution and the Science of Creation
Undeniable: Evolution and the Science of Creation

Review:This is an elegant presentation of one of the most solidly supported theories in science. "The Science Guy" shows us clear, objective, abundant evidence for evolution, despite the often hostile rejection of these truths by much of American culture. It is as beautiful and awe-inspiring a story of the origins of life as those found in any mythology or religious doctrine. Read more

The Astounding Interconnectedness of the Universe
The Astounding Interconnectedness of the Universe

Review:Professor Randall takes us on a journey from the outermost reaches of the universe to the unseen players of conventional and dark matter. It is a wonderfully layered work that peers into not only the elemental factors that make up our entire universe, but also the minds of the leading scientists covering a diversity of fields that helped to foster Professor Randall's work. Although we will continue to watch and see how the dark matter story plays out, this book certainly provides a very provoc... Read more

Books a la Carte Edition (4th Edition) - Fundamentals of Statistics

Review:The book is amazing, the people I bought from were not. When the used book arrived from Czars all the pages were coated in a dingy film. The book reeked of an odor I must assume was rat piss. Holding the book to read made me nauseous and ill. After teaching through chapter 1, I finally took it to a graphic arts place and had them photo copy all the pages so that I could throw it away. Calculus, 7th Edition
Calculus, 7th Edition

Review:this book and the math department at OU in general is over rated. they do not explain things very well, and they treat it as though they are the only school that has a math department. this coming from someone who is good at math and doing well. Read more

Chemistry: A Molecular Approach (4th Edition)
Chemistry: A Molecular Approach (4th Edition)

Review:I expected it to come damaged or ratty; after all, it is a rented college book. However, it blew expectations completely out of the water. The book was almost completely clean, with nearly no markings inside the book. No water damage, no mold, no ripped or torn pages. Two thumbs up. Read more

and the Beginning of Everything - the Meaning of Nothing
and the Beginning of Everything - the Meaning of Nothing

Review:Amanda presents physics from an autobiographical point of view that is not only entertaining, but also explores the deep underbelly of physics from an often philosophical point of view. Only one equation (actually and identity) but very clear portraits of modern physics and physicists! Read more
