Review:This cookbook comes full of recipes and Terry Pratchett's charm. The recipes are easy to follow and create great food. The stories and sidebars are great too. Anyone needing to have a little fun in the kitchen should order this book. Anyone who has read any Terry Pratchett should order this cookbook! Great gift! Read more
Review:I suppose this was a good start. Having read the Wizards and Death books before I did expect a bit more, but it did improve once the plot and characters were established. Looking forward to Men At Arms (book 2) now that introductions are over with. Read more
Review:An excellent book. It continues the story of "Half a King", but instead of Yarvi, there is a new character taking the spotlight: Thorn. She's bascially the opposite of Yarvi. After all, Yarvi is a man, who was expected to be a warrior king but instead chose to be a minisiter of peace. Thorn is a woman, who is expected to be a traditional lady, but wants to be a warrior. The plot by itself isn't actually anything amazing. In fact (like many fantasy books), they spend a huge portion of time just t... Read more
Review:Excellent set of stories by Joe Abercrombie. I longed for the First Law universe from Joe when I read the Half>>> first book. It was not very good in my estimation.
These are First Law stories Joe did over time loosely tied together. I enjoyed all of them but one that seemed out of place and slow.
Don't peak at the last one. Nice twist. Read more
Review:Continues the excellent character-driven schemes for which the first two books set a precedent. Another thrilling fantasy heist, with a plot full of twists and turns, the deep character history that the first two books whet our appetite for, and a story richer and cleverer than any other! Review:Lawrences new series has a lot of interesting concepts running around inside it - but still maintains a lot of the style that made his shattered empire books so enjoyable. Where that world was broken, its inhabitants not sure of exactly what happened, this world knows that its dying - not with a bang, but a whimper. The characters are a little inscrutable. I think Lawrence writes better in the first person, and that makes his protagonists more sympathetic, despite their deep flaws. But I'll cert... Read more
Review:A "pot-boiler" without serving a "satisfying meal". Very easy to put the book down and actually had to force myself back to it a few times. He tries to force a serious plot with light-hearted narrative that simply failed to entertain and felt like "work" at times. According to me it should not be classified as Adult Fantasy, this would be for young adults or teenagers at best where it not for the occasional swear word that felt oddly out of place at times. Could not be bothered to finish the t... Read more
Review:This guy is amazing. He uses the same universe, characters and many of the same settings to tell completely different stories. I would say the only contiguous factor is that all his stories have some grit. I am now reading it for the second time, can't wait for his next book! Read more
Review:I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It's the second in the mistborn series and highly addictive. I read the first one in paper back and once I got my kindle it was the first book I purchased. I would recommend for anyone who like sci-fi. Read more
Review:This is NOT good. The author starts out by telling a greatly interesting AND DIFFERENT story about a KING and his devastated people, lost and barely surviving (for 300 years) in a frozen lannd and their quest and struggle to find their way back home, through variance, strength and , yes, magic... then, the author suddenly goes back to the same thing as in his first book if this saga and lets you wondering whatever happened to this formidable king and people until the last few pages, where he let...
