The Darkest Pleasure (Lords of the Underworld)
The Darkest Pleasure (Lords of the Underworld)

Review:I haven't read any of the other books in this series but was thankful when I started reading The Darkest Pleasure it wasn't necessary. Obviously each book is a story in it's own though still tying all characters together. Gena Showalter did a lovely job in writing this book, the characters have depth and heart. I don't care for heroines who are so tough they aren't even women anymore, or so bitchy and mean they can never take correction. Danica is lovely and written with some grace, Reyes...... Read more

Deadly Sting (Elemental Assassin Series Book 8)
Deadly Sting (Elemental Assassin Series Book 8)

Review:I still love you, Jennifer Estep. And I still love the Elemental Assassin series. But Owen... I feel like my longstanding and overwhelming love for Owen Grayson has suffered irreparable damage with this book. Which makes me both a little bit angry --and sad.

The following will contain spoilers for anyone who has not already read Widow's Web.

As the story begins, Owen and Gin are still apart, as he deals with the fact that she killed his ex-fiance. Nevermind the fact that Selina ... Read more

Erin, a Film Documentarian, and her husband Mark, an investment banker, are enjoying their honeymoon on Bora Bora. Then She Was Gone: A Novel
Then She Was Gone: A Novel

Review:I purchased this book from @bookofthemonth to read with my bestie @mycornerforbooksand.  All opinions are my own. ????? Then She Was Gone by Lisa Jewell. Bizarre! Amazingly bizarre! 16 year old Ellie Mack goes missing one day on her way to study. After years and years of searching the closure that her family so desperately needed is anything but a normal missing person case. As the plots unfolded page after page I found it hard to set down. I needed to know more. I had to know why. Most of ... Read more

Review:In her excellant sequil to News of the World, Jiles again links her knowledge of frontier history and Native American culture with a heartfelt story of the risks faced by early settlers of the American plains and the emotional changes experienced by captive children. Read more

The Affair
The Affair

Review:Seeing the same timeline from three different perspectives was a great way to truly understand the characters and where they were coming from. They all had their flaws, and you wanted to yell at them multiple times throughout the book ("what are you doing/thinking/saying??"), but it was their depth and your overall empathy for them that makes this such a fast, and ultimately enjoyable, read. On a Pale Horse (Incarnations of Immortality Book 1)
On a Pale Horse (Incarnations of Immortality Book 1)

Review:The author is incapable, unfortunately, of writing believable characters. Regardless of ho the character in question is, they have one voice - his own.

The plot, in broad strokes, should be interesting. It deals with a mythos rarely touched upon. Unfortunately the heavy handed use of deus ex machina to extract the character from every situation leads to distress without gravity, conflict absent of risk.

Ultimately I'm not sure who the target audience is for this book. Surely anyone... Read more

Magical Mayhem Trilogy Book 2) - Natural Mage (DDVN World
Magical Mayhem Trilogy Book 2) - Natural Mage (DDVN World

Review:Wow! Just wow! Magic, mayhem, and gut-bustingly hilarious hijinks abound in this 2nd book in the Magical Mayhem series. K. F. Breene has hit another home run with this one! She pulls you into the storyline right from the first chapter, and never lets go. I couldn't put it down. Join Penny, Emery, Callie and Dizzy, and Reagan in this fast-paced, action-filled, continuation of Penny's journey to grow into her magical potential.

I received an ARC of the book, and I'm voluntarily stating my h... Read more

The Mermaid Chair
The Mermaid Chair

Review:Yes, SMK deserves the accolaides she is recieving for this work - at times it's so premeditatedly lovely it's distracting. She has proved she can put a sentance together. Has weird, colorful characters down. What would have been compelling and courageous however, would have been to see her main character fight the inexplicable draw to the monk - and do the right thing by remaining faithful to her vows she made to her husband. Those scenes where she tells Hugh are heartbreaking - for Hugh! I want... Read more

Endless Love Letter (Fatal Series Book 2)

Review:5+++++ ENDLESS STARS!!!

It's really been a while since I read a book that affects me so much to a point where I could no longer really form coherent words...my thoughts are clouded...my vision is blurred..and I could not even hear a single word my husband said because I was so invested with my reading that after a while I let him hold me and kissed me in my head because hell I was a mess reading the book.

In all honesty It really felt so different reading this compared to the first... Read more
