Review:Just read The Summerhouse and Return to Summerhouse again (3rd time)and really wanted another book. I didn't know she had written a third one and it was everything I wanted and needed in a great summer read. Read more
Review:I have to be honest, getting through this book was a struggle for me. I have been a Julie Garwood fan for a very long time, but it's almost as if someone else wrote this story. Everything felt rushed and off kilter. The humor seemed to be forced and I felt like Milford and Caroline had more chemistry between them than Caroline and Bradford. The small details are what make a story great to me and this book is sadly lacking. It made me think of the "See spot. See spot run. Spot is running." books ... Read more
Review:One of my favorite novels is Earnest Gaines' A GATHERING OF OLD MEN. This novel reminds me very much of that novel because chapters present different characters' accounts and impressions of their past histories and current experiences. Conversational style fits each character, and descriptive detail is clear and realistic. Read more
Review:Julia and Cassie have been best friends since they were classmates in nursery school. When the pair diverge while in middle school, with Cassie heading down a dangerous path, will Julia be there for her oldest friend in her time of need?
The Burning Girl lacked cohesion, which ultimately made this book a miss. The author did not take the time to build the characters and their stories, but instead threw in a bunch of situations to make the plot go in the desired direction. The motivatio... Read more
Review:This book is in bad shape, it is discolored, stained, torn, and almost falling apart. I only paid a penny for it, but shipping was almost $3.99 so it really was not worth it, because the book was not worth $4.
I will still be able to read it, but it will be quite embarassing pulling it out in front of other people, so I suppose it will be a book I read at home. Read more
Review:I received a free copy of Our Endless Numbered Days from the publisher in return for an honest review.
I wasn't sure what to expect from this one, the premise caught my attention and it turned out to be a pretty intense and vivid read.
The story is told completely from the main character Peggy's point of view and is split into two different intertwining storylines: the summer of 1976 when her father takes her away from all she knows, and 1985 when she's older and has returned home.... Read more
Review:Action packed and fast paced as usual for John Mefford. Now Ozzie has his backpack loaded, and is ready for a new start with Nicole by his side. New start? New house? Bet it won't be a slam dunk. Can't wait for the next one. Read more
Review:Another excellent piece of work by John Irving. If your an oldie and retired like me and didn't have time to read Irvings work back in your working days, this is a good one to catch up on. You won't want to put it down. Read more
Review:Anne Enright uses her compelling and unique Irish voice to tell the story of a large Irish family, individually and collectively haunted by its past.
The Gathering refers to the wake that follows the death of Liam, a once-beloved brother and son, whose potential was never realized. Liam's sister, Veronica, examines his senseless death, telling the story of this "embarrassingly" large family by uncovering some of its demons. Veronica narrates from the various perspectives of her present p... Read more
Review:The next installment of Sapphire Falls: After Hours is finally HERE!!!! I have been waiting to sink my teeth into the unflappable story of Dr. Kyle Ames for some time now and boy-oh-boy Erin Nicholas did not disappoint. Kyle and Hannah's story is funny with plenty of LOL moments, super sexy with the HOT ALPHA Doc and a great book about second chances, there are also heartbreaking moments between these two when they realise just what they lost and maybe just what they should've fought harder for....
