Review:As humans we all make mistakes. The reasons are wide and mainly because we aren't computers that operate "by the rules". This book is a fun reading. It shows phenomenal mistakes we are doing.
A lot of the stories are probably from the same sources as others books I have read on the subjects. But they are nice to be remembered.
I did enjoy the story about us straightening the map. It appears that when we have a map in our head we straighten the curves. I saw it myself while driving the ... Read more
Review:Nothing really exciting here. The advice is obvious. Any self help book on self control has at least this much content.
Not worth the time if you've read anything close to this content. Self-control and mindfulness are covered much better in so many other formats. Just because it has "poker" in the title, doesn't mean the content is original. Read more
Review:The answers/solutions are incorrect. The paper of the book is too thin for pencil use and rips easily when erasing. In addition, these puzzles are just, well, meh. There are countless errors which makes solving the puzzles impossible. Add to that the answers in the back are incorrect, which leads to frustration. Go with Will Shortz’s books. They’re incredible. Review:Mark Wilson is a famous and highly respected magician who has many decades of experience, and he wrote a classic book that will introduce beginners to the basics of all areas of illusions. He covers a little bit of everything (cards, coins, ropes, mentalism, close-up, stage, silks, water, vanishing, sleights etc. etc.), and provides simple illustrations and even patter. He occasionally has diagrams from the perspective of the artist and the audience, to help keep things clear. Even experience... Read more
Review:Fooling Houdini was fantastic! Probably one of the best books I've ever read! I would recommend it to anyone! I was literally laughing out loud almost every other page. There's never a dull moment really. The people he meets are hilarious and really interesting. I even managed to learn a thing or two from this book! Love it! Read more
Review:I've always enjoyed the challenge of the New York Times Sunday Crossword. I especially like the moment when I figure out the overall clue hinted at by the title. When I quit getting my local newspaper, I started buying these bound collections. You can see from the number in the top corner that there are quite a few to choose from -- I think this is my third one. The puzzle and clues are one to a page so it's plenty big enough, and the answers are neatly provided on the last few pages. I'm sure I... Read more
Review:An entertaining read. It'll make you laugh and it'll make you cringe, but one thing it won't do is teach you anything about the game of poker -- that said, perhaps that's not the point of the book. If you're looking for a good satire and a good laugh, it's a good read. Read more
Review:I loved this book. The case studies how the simple characteristics of game play can engage audiences to effectively solve problems. From crowd sourcing to CSR there are some really interesting approaches for brands and organizations. Originally I thought it would be focused on video gaming- it is not. It covers video gaming but the book is an authoritative look at all gaming. it was really helpful for any marketing or brand strategist. Read more
