I've always enjoyed the challenge of the New York Times Sunday Crossword. I especially like the moment when I figure out the overall clue hinted at by the title. When I quit getting my local newspaper, I started buying these bound collections. You can see from the number in the top corner that there are quite a few to choose from -- I think this is my third one. The puzzle and clues are one to a page so it's plenty big enough, and the answers are neatly provided on the last few pages. I'm sure I'll continue working my way through these volumes of puzzles!

Love New York Times Sunday Crossword Puzzles and these volumes are really convenient to use. These puzzles can be quite a challenge which is not available in my daily newspaper crossword puzzle. Would purchase more of these volumes and likely will.

In the heading for this book, it states emphatically that it is "spiral bound" - and several of the comments state that they love the fact it's "spiral bound". If any book should be spiral bound, it's a crossword puzzle book. The one I was sent is book bound and will not lay flat, or fold over to provide support when hold it while sitting. I haven't touched any of the puzzles, as I do not take well to be scammed.

Wonderful Christmas tradition was started 5 years ago. Because my daughter loves the puzzle and planner together, she has come to expect to see this gift under the tree each year. She loves this style the best.
Thanks for a great product and gift idea!!

Nothing wrong with the puzzles. I specifically ordered the spiral-bound edition, which is easy to use, but they sent the bound edition, which is not. Order these carefully if you like the spiral binding.

These are hard, but the newer edition of the same author is a harder collection of crosswords. My dad is a self-proclaimed expert and says the crosswords in this particular book are more like medium than really hard.

I have purchased this crossword calendar as a gift for several years now. The puzzles are more difficult and great for a true enthusiast. The only complaint is that the print is small for someone of an increasing age.

This is a good calendar, and of course the puzzles are excellent, at least having done the first four. The spiral binding means you can lay the book open on a table or easily hold it in your lap. The puzzles are reprints in order from February 2008 to February 2009.
One problem: the dates listed below each puzzle appear to all be off by a single week: So puzzle number 1 (correctly titled "Reverse English") is listed as coming from 2/17/08, but it actually is from 2/10/08. If you're using the solutions in the back of the book (listed six-per-page), this isn't a problem. On the other hand, if (like me) you are in the habit of looking up the solution on the internet (where various puzzler bloggers provide commentary along with a solution for each puzzle), and if you happen to search by date as listed in this book (e.g., googling "nytimes crossword 3/16/08"), you will end up looking at the solution to the puzzle immediately *after* the one you're trying to check -- which is extremely annoying if you're planning to do that puzzle next, and prefer not to know any of the answers.
That's my lone complaint. Otherwise, it's a good price for a year's collection of delightful puzzles. Highly recommended.

I love this day planner. My friend thought it was a horrible idea to take something that is supposed to make you more efficient (day planner) and combine it with the awesome time wasting power of the crossword puzzle. I disagree. The puzzles make the crushing burden of adult responsibility more bearable. They provide me with hours of interesting divirsion and help to improve the liklihood that I will actually open my calendar and remember to take it with me. It's also pretty fascinating to chart your crossword skills over the course of a year. I could barely get anything in the earlier puzzles, but as I have learned some tricks and grown accustomed to the particular madness that drives Mr. Shortz, I have improved over time. September Me is so much smarter than January Me. It helps keep my brain from atrophying into mush in the face of the drudgery of the work day.

These volumes of NYT's Sunday crossword puzzles, edited by Will Shortz are the best. The spiral bound format with a complete puzzle on each page is perfect. Delivery time from the store was slower than usual. Keep track of the volume numbers so you won't re-order the same one.
