Review:Though the premise of this novel is interesting--the ghost of a Chinese girl is telling the story--it is incredibly ridiculous. She chooses to starve herself to death rather than marry the man of her parents' choice, though ironically (and predictably) he is her true love. Snore...The rest--her interaction with his second and third wives is somewhat interesting and keeps the novel going, but really, once you're dead...who cares? Read more
Review:This is an adaptation of the original story; the dialog is probably much more in tune with how they spoke in period but it makes for some disjointed reading. Still, it is a good swashbuckling epic from which a number of decent film adaptations have been made. If you like medieval epics, you can't go wrong with this one. Read more
Review:Glad I got this series on audio! Great narration and crazy good books too! My only issue was the case for the MP3's. All three are in one case which is cool. But they do not stay in place well and are at serious risk of scratching. I experienced this with another multi CD book set. The publishers really need to work on this packaging problem.
I did enjoy the books so much, I'll be purchasing more from this author. Read more
Review:The second installment in Lorelei James’ endearing Need You series, Just What I Needed, is a sweet, steamy and humor-filled romance.
Trinity Carlson and Walker Lund’s initial meeting is quite memorable and their relationship seems meant to be when they finally connect with each other again. Right from the beginning, there is a powerful attraction between them but what really makes their relationship work is the fact that they just get one another. Both have an off-beat, quirky sense of ... Read more
Review:While the creative team involved has made every effort to echo the themes of the original mega-crossover, Crisis on Infinite Earths, Infinite Crisis reads less like a multiverse spanning epic and more like just another Superman story, albeit with more guest stars than usual. To explain why this story could have easily fit into the monthly Superman or Action title would be to give away too much of the plot. Suffice to say, that the major antagonists are all "Super"-related as is much of the act... Read more
Review:This is a great play, both for reading, and definitely for viewing. As a reader, pay close attention to the Author's stage directions, and notes. The play viewer won't hear or see these, and they are deliciously Williams. Read more
Review:The book is a series of letters telling the story of a English professor. The letters of recommendations were hilarious to read. I never thought about the fact that when students ask for a letter of recommendation, they don't know exactly what is said! Read more
Review:I was disappointed by this book, the first (and last) one I have read by this author. As another reviewer said, there is little to no character development. The protagonist comes off as a shallow whiner who thinks her moronic pithy sayings pass for philosophy. I only finished the book because I paid too much for it On Kindle. I have a hard time knowing how books are priced on Amazon: too often I don't feel I get what I paid for. And then again, I have totally enjoyed older classics and books pri... Read more
Review:This story was captivating from beginning to end. I have read other books by Adriana Trigiani and enjoyed them so I bought this one knowing it would be a good read. I would recommend it
