Lovely characters, good story....read the three novels before this one to follow the story line... Big Stone Gap, Big Cherry Holler and Milk Glass Moon. Ms. Trigiani is one of favorite writers and in this series she shines! Recommend highly.

This story was captivating from beginning to end. I have read other books by Adriana Trigiani and enjoyed them so I bought this one knowing it would be a good read. I would recommend it
to anyone who enjoys authentic stories!

I very much enjoyed the story centered in Wise, VA, a small mountain town I've visited. Ms Trigiani has a way of putting you in the town, rooting for the characters. A good read for anyone who likes small towns yet recognizes the pull toward greener pastures in the big city.

Nice story line. Good descriptions of sights, tastes, and characters....The friendships created in this little cozy town were developed in a crisp style, not letting you into the lead character's head and heart until the middle of the book. Then it was all worth it.

Great read that awakened many memories of growing up in the mountains of WIse, Lee and Scott Counties in wonderful deep Southwest Virginia. Trigiiani has a way of making you feel as if you are living the life of the characters in her stories.

Her books introduce you to the towns people and you wished you lived in that town, they help one another. There are situations where she might be falling in love with the marble salesman and you wonder is she going to go home or stay in Italy. She almost gives a travelog of places she visits in Italy so the reader vicariously gets to see them also.

Anyone (especially females) will enjoy this book. Just when you think your questions are about to be answered, they are not. And just when you think you know the answer, it is changed. I loved it. Maybe because I am a southerner myself and so much is familiar.

The various characters had a charm and naturalism to them, wholesome and believable, but the story was predictable and saccharine. I kept waiting for a shoe to drop but nothing happened. Everyone skipped off happily in the end.

I have read almost all of Adriana Trigiani books and have yet to.
be disappointed ...all her books have interesting characters that follow an interesting story line. All the family recipes are a bonus!

Big Stone Gap was awesomely entertaining. So well written that I became Ave Marie. Adriana Trigiani is my new favorite author. Her books bring into perspective a other life.....the way friends and neighbors used to relate. Keep 'em coming, Ms Trigiani!

I read this whole trilogy and enjoyed all the stories. I learned a lot. Found the receipts fun to see in the middle of the stories. I related to Ava Maria throughout the story. I totally love the way Adriana writes her stories with a little bit of humour.

I had visited Big Stone Gap, Virginia in the 1990's. When I saw the title I had to get the book. There are also three other books that continue the story. I have all four and have enjoyed them. Other books by Adriana Trigiani are also very good.

I enjoyed this story and I found the characters to be very likable. I only gave it 3 out of 5 stars because there really wasn't anything too exciting in this story. Although I love happy endings I did find this book to be a little bit too predictable.

Big Stone Gap is a well written, tightly constructed book that is even more fun to read and teach after the second reading than I had first anticipated, it is being well received and appreciated. I love the built in humor, and others, with a smile, like the big haertednes of the book. It's going over well, and drawing people into the Senior Center Book Club.

And the near pristene quality of the book from the store.com doesn't hurt, either.

Thanks guys, two purchases, one hard copy, one Kindle, and one purchase from Half Priced Books, cool.

Adriana Trigiani is a gifted writer who keeps her reader in the flow of her story telling in a gripping way. Easy and entertaining with twists in the turn of a page , her characters are endearing as only Southern life can be.

Loved all three books in this series. The author didn't leave us wondering what had happened to the characters we had grown to love in the first two books in the series. I think it would be hard to follow if you hadn't read the first two books.

I really liked this book and the series that this book was a part of. I read the first book and then went back and ordered the others in the series. I liked the way she expressed her thoughts and ideas in these books. I plan to read more of her books.

My favorite book by Adriana Trigiani is Lucia Lucia. This book is now my second favorite, the author is a wonderful story teller. She really knows how to describe someone being in love. I highly recommend this book?

If you have read the previous "Big Stone Gap" books, this book is extremely repetitive. While you still have to love the characters that Trigiani has brought to life in this series, at least 50% of this book is spent retelling what has happened in the other books. Very little new and revealing happens to make you know these charcters any better with maybe the exception of Iva Lou's secret past. Perhaps I would give it more stars if I hadn't read the other books.

This was the sweetest love story! But it was slow (took me several months to finish) and not much of a page-turner, despite the super-endearing characters and awesome setting. I'd still recommend it as a beach read.

If you want some great books the Valentine series is wonderful!!! I have never been so excited about a book coming out. While I am waiting for my book in Nov . I now have the Big stone Gap series. It is also a good if not great series.
