Review:WARNING - Do not buy Sovereign Grace Publishers Henry Cole translation of Bondage of the Will.
After slogging through 95 pages of its barely understandable jargon, I asked my dad, Pastor Gerry Mohr (LCMS) if Luther's reputation for intellect was, perhaps, a bit unearned. He replied, "Cole whipped out his translation effort in three months or less. Luther's original is a direct reply to a work by Erasmus directly aimed against what Luther was teaching. Cole does not take the time to und... Read more
Review:Honestly? I am basically a lover of McLaren books. I find them challenging and well writen. This one however is more of a very predictable bible study than a challenging book about a Christian issue deserving careful consideration. The questions on the end of each chapter were also rather predictable. I suppose the book is just to be used for devotional reading in conservative Christian families settings. Not primarily for theological reflection. Read more
Review:David Platt urged Christ-followers to jettison the American dream and opt for a life of service to the glory of God in his first book, Radical. His follow-up work, Radical Together takes his proposal one step further by challenging the Body of Christ to extend God's grace to the world. One central question drives the book: "How can we in the church best unleash the people of God in the Spirit of God with the Word of God for the glory of God in the world?"
Platt shows how six key ideas ... Read more
Review:What an amazing book. My first by Philip Pullman. As an adult Christian, I've been more moved by Jesus the man then Jesus the Christ. It was his humanity that inspired me to be a better person - to strive to bring God's kingdom to our lives on earth and not some far away heaven. The scene of Jesus in the Garden - his doubts, his fears, God's silence brought tears to my eyes. Thanks Mr. Pullman for making me continue to question my faith as I journey through life. Read more
Review:This was the first book I finished. I never enjoyed reading but I just couldn't put this book down. I've read several books since and this is at the top of my list. Read it ask God for guidence and let the Holy Spirit lead you to victory through prayer. I also recommed the Three battle grounds by Francis Frangipane , and How to listen to God by Charles Stanley. Review:I was unaware that this is a heavily Christian book, with a number of Bible passages and the text being quite founded in Christian theology. I found this problematic, particularly as a I reached a segment of the book wherein the author points out to the reader that God has placed your boss/es in the positions they are in, and therefore, they are to be trusted to be leaders. (See p. 125, for example)
That said, it's only my fault that I was unaware of what kind of book it is... but in case... Read more
Review:I really enjoyed H3 leadership. Many of the habits are common sense but I liked how the author connected the material in a more personal way. I also like the fact that he speaks from a Christian perspective. Read more

Review:Publisher is supposed to email access code. After weeks, and multiple contacts with Amazon customer service, still no access code. Publisher / seller should learn to provide real customer service and not do false advertisement of their product, promising what they don't deliver.
Switched to hardcover version. Amazon customer service is excellent and made the swap easy. Read more
Review:Bonhoeffer is detailed and analytical in his observations regarding daily life in a close-knit Christian commmunity. I found this book to be highly thought-provoking and practical. He covers a lot of ground, and I found many of his thoughts to ring true with my own experiences. His discourse is firmly anchored in the Word, with frequent scripture citations to validate and expand the thoughts in his writing. Read more
