Review:This book arrived quickly which I appreciated, but I returned it after the semester as I was renting it and I never received the price adjustment. Instead I was charged the purchase price.
I contacted Amazon about this because the cc used to make the rental had expired and I didn't know if they needed a new card # or would send a check. Amazon said they would send a check. I've contacted them twice by email but still haven't received a price adjustment and no I now longer have the book... Read more

Review:I thought that Neil Shubin's first book, Your Inner Fish, was simply a masterpiece of non-fiction and one of my favorite books of all time. So perhaps my expectations were unrealistically high when I eagerly opened his second offering. The scope of this one is certainly more ambitious: after exploring the genetic heritage within the human species, he now considers the literally cosmic heritage of all life on Earth! It is this very expansiveness that led to my mild disappointment, however. The wr... Read more
Review:The author describes the body's transition from ape to man using many examples of physical and mental development. His explanations are logical and convincing especially for an amateur evolutionist like myself. At times, it's overly technical and repetitive in some areas but the book provides many answers as to why our species has survived environmental and social changes of the past. Read more
Review:Wilson is unquestionably a remarkable scientist who deserves much praise for his work, esp., island biogeography modeling and concepts. However, I found this book and his Consilience not very engaging. I came away from both with few new insights on the topics. But, given the undeniable accomplishments of Wilson, I remain hopeful about any new book he might author in the future. Read more
Review:I heard the author interviewed on radio and thought the book sounded interesting. When I got it, I decided it was way over my head. My husband had no interest in it, so we donated it to charity. It may be a great book for someone in this field. Read more
Review:An excellent survey through the megawonder that is the human brain. Eagleman provides illuminating examples of how the brain is able to rewire itself when there is a physical injury. Sometimes there is some technical language, but likely that is to be expected. Some of the effectiveness of the text was blunted since I was reading on a kindle, thus color illustrations are not visible. The book is a guide to the TV series; unfortunately, I have not seen this. Review:I'm disappointed and will likely be returning this edition of the classic and groundbreaking Gray's Anatomy.
Quite simply, the book is too small and the typeface is approaching microfilm size font.
I hate to complain but this is not the first time I have had this type of disappointment with a book from Amazon. It's like the books are printed to order on a poor quality printer. Gone are the days when a book could be a sensual experience with that new pages smell, the thick paper, th... Read more
Review:Shipping price > book price LOL
My professor was using a different version, but the material was virtually the same. Its crazy: they change a few works, call it their own "edition" and jack up the prices. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the best 50 cents I ever spent. Read more
