Review:A great Russian classic but in the traditional Russian genre. Very descriptive writing of people and places with the "normal" tragic Russian ending. Turgenev easily captures the soul of Russian writers of the 18th century. Read more

Review:I slogged through the first half of this book and finally gave up. It's just stultifyingly dull. I was reading it as one of those classics that everybody has read, and I remember liking Lawrence's The Rainbow in college, but life is too short for me to bother finishing this one. Read more
Review:Maps of Meaning: The Architecture of Belief by Jordan Peterson is a great prelude to "Saam Medical Meditation's" and "Saam Meditation: The Interpretation of Dreams" - Organ Centered Consciousness. In terms of consciousness what Jordan Peterson and Carl Jung are missing is that consciousness resides in the internal organs. Archetypes are formed and stored in the Spleen which represents the need for children to grow big (through nutrition), to counter the fears and threats that are likely to harm... Read more
Review:Totalitarianism. It’s not a concept that we are very familiar with; those of us who have been born free. The sludge of fear, every decision weighed not against what is good and just and right, but instead against what the ‘powers’ will think; the battle to deny self but not lose your spirit in the process – tiny acts of rebellion unidentifiable to the minders but nevertheless something that is your own, a fake accent or a carefully planned ‘accident’; not sabotage but just orchestrated carelessn... Review:relative dry book..great insights on human/anthropological development of chimps and us...but towards the second half of the book which are not quite relevant..and Sun spots affect Earth historic temperature fluctuation...not humans..BUT global warming IS an issue..humans have duty to protect, but it is the Sun affects the Earth...as if he tries too hard to squeeze all the passengers into a Shinkansen during Tokyo morning rush hour... Review:It's sized *just right* to NOT fit comfortably in the calf pockets or shoulder pockets of the newer Army OCP uniform. The translation is atrociously hard to read. Passages look clumsy, and lack of punctuation doesn't make it any easier. In a tactical environment, the best translation is one where a service member can glance at it's pages and grab some quick inspiration if you have downtime for a five minute smoke break. It shouldn't take five minutes to untangle the translator's verbiage. I *... Read more
Review:Once again I enjoyed another great read from Ms. Gaines. Zeke the savior had demons, but he was working his way through them.Aisha/ Tameka well found herself in a bad situation but was determined not to give up on herself. This journey between those two takes us to some dark places,( Ms. Gaines you caught me off guard again) .But grace of God and the Patience and love of a good man helped right a almost sinking ship. The Neary family is pretty amazing also.
Now then there is this, I'm I the ... Read more
Review:A truly heroic effort to compile a history of physics from the pre-Greeks to the present, at least the first part of which should be accessible to the educated reader who is willing to expend a little mental effort. By and large, the book is successful in setting forth the thinking of the early natural philosophers Democritus (460-370BC), Plato (427-347BC), Aristotle (384-322BC) and their contemporaries and in describing the importance of the ideas of Galileo (1564-1642), Newton (1643-1727), F...
