Honor Among Enemies (Honor Harrington Book 6)
Honor Among Enemies (Honor Harrington Book 6)

Review:If you like CS Forester's Horatio Hornblower, or Patrick O'Brien's "Master and Commander" series, you'll love David Weber's Honor Harrington series. He vividly portrays a strong and viscerally attractive female in the role of the protagonist and really makes the transition to a space opera in grand style. I love the series, and have read it four times, now. I especially like "Honor Among Enemies" and I truly believe the three part mini-series this book begins is his best work. Read more

The Shadow of Saganami (Honor Harrington - Saganami Island Book 1)
The Shadow of Saganami (Honor Harrington - Saganami Island Book 1)

Review:While war rages between the Star Kingdom of Manticore and the Republic of Haven in another sector, the Talbott Cluster has voted to join the former. As a show of diplomatic unity, flag-raising, and military strength, the heavy cruiser HMS Hexapuma journeys to this remote sector. Though Captain Terekov is a weary war hero, much of the crew remains untested as recent graduates from the Saganami Island Royal Naval Academy.

However, the simple show of strength turns dangerous as an alliance... Read more

Flag in Exile (Honor Harrington Book 5)
Flag in Exile (Honor Harrington Book 5)

Review:Excellent yarn in the line of the Hornblower saga but hundred of years in the future. Lots of space battles and a interesting heroine.
Howewer, long chapters are lost with long and boring "political" discussions. I like science fiction and Weber writes good one, but he deviates with "political science 1.o1" of future star kingdoms. Read more

War of Honor (Honor Harrington Book 10)
War of Honor (Honor Harrington Book 10)

Review:I have just finished this book, and I have to agree with the majority of reviewers. This is not as good as previous books in the series. The biggest problem is that all authors need an editor who will tell them when they have gone off the rails - in this book, it doesn't look like it was edited at all. Every internal dialogue of the characters, every opportunity to explain their motivations, every last emotional detail was included in this book. After awhile, I got so weary with the build-up to ... Echoes of Honor (Honor Harrington Book 8)
Echoes of Honor (Honor Harrington Book 8)

Review:Any one remember the little old lady looking at her hamburger and asking where's the BEEF? There was another story about the restaurant manager asking a patron. How did you find your Streak sir? With that the gentleman said well I just picked up the pickle and their it was.

So I might say Steak=Honor=Beef. So gimmie da BEEF.

Field of Dishonor (Honor Harrington Book 4)
Field of Dishonor (Honor Harrington Book 4)

Review:This is the fourth book in a series. It tie together the three previous books and sets the stage for future books. There are at least ten more books in this series. I can't wait to read the nest one. Read more

A Rising Thunder (Honor Harrington Book 13)
A Rising Thunder (Honor Harrington Book 13)

Review:As I've been waiting for this book a long time, I must say, not up to Weber's best or even his middle level.

Having said that, I realize that this is half a book, since the publisher decreed books have to be under a certain length. But still no real action. Just umpteen pages of review and setup, but no meat to this book.

Action slow and incomplete, no surprises, no nothing. Blow up the SLN Fleet, ho humm another day. What everyone expects happens.

About Mesa a few pages to ... Read more

Mission of Honor (Honor Harrington Book 12)
Mission of Honor (Honor Harrington Book 12)

Review:I loved the boldness of her arrival in Haven and the forthright way she dealt with the bureacrates. Her ability to read the opponents aids her in the negotiations. For once it was good to read one of Webers novels and not having thousands of people being killed. Others will enjoy this new aspect of Honor's chosen field. Read more

Ashes of Victory (Honor Harrington Book 9)
Ashes of Victory (Honor Harrington Book 9)

Review:I know, I know - we can never go home again. I know that Honor is now in the senior, SENIOR ranks of the military and can't be at the helm of space battles any more. BUT...that doesn't excuse Weber from writing a boring, technojunk- filled, overlong book. David, are they paying you by the word? All of the Honor Harrington books have used the literary device of introducing characters and then following their individual stories. Weber has introduced soooo many characters that following the... Black Magic Sanction (The Hollows Book 8)
Black Magic Sanction (The Hollows Book 8)

Review:Black magic sanction is book 8 in Kim Harrison's Hollows series. I have to disagree a bit with the book description above, about this being the most complex or emotionally charged adventure. That does not mean it was a disappointment, however. Does the book have it's tear jerker moment? Yes. Get a box of tissues ready. But, we've had a few equally as heart wrenching for Rachel and her friends.

Adventure wise, I would say this one is less action packed than other novels in the series. Mos... Read more
