Review:"As the most important phenomenon in the universe, intelligence is capable of transcending natural limitations, and of transforming the world in its own image. In human hands, our intelligence has enabled us to overcome the restrictions of our biological heritage and to change ourselves in the process. We are the only species that does this."

Review:This book is fundamental for the ML enthusiasts conceptual bookshelf.
Some have complained about it's lack of technical detail; mind you, it's a conceptual book and should not be read for technical know-how but more for understanding the spirit of the machine learning researcher and what the big picture is all about. Read more
Review:I fall between the polarized views of the reviewers of this textbook. This is a well-written introduction to Lisp programming and Scheme, and introduces many important concepts in Computer Science. The problem with it is that it is not a suitable book for a beginner -- I don't consider it a gentle introduction to computer science -- and for someone experienced enough to be comfortable with its ideas, it doesn't introduce many interesting ideas until Chapter 3. Review:Admittedly, I haven't read the apparent king "Introduction to Algorithms".
But Skienna's approach is very digestible. I really enjoyed the writing and the concentration on explaining the concepts instead of vomiting up a wall of greek symbols. I would have loved to actually have taken a class from this guy. Read more

The book also gives you a great project to learn how to put it all together. I watched a 6 hour video on C# and all he did was explain what things are and what they do b... Read more
Review:Author describes his view on development of games. Examples from Magic: The Gathering to projects for Disneyland.
Book is filled with interesting ideas and approaches for game development.
It is totally worth to read more than once. Don't believe to reviews - just try a sample. Read more
Review:Pretty good book. It is very complete and accurate. It explains all the details of how each feature of the language works at a sufficiently low level. But it reads more like a reference book than a book to learn the main features of python. It's a large book so it might not be worth reading it straight through, but a good book to have if you're learning python or need a reference book. Read more
