Review:I love this book. I read it in college, and lost my copy of it. I think it was written back when the idea of foreign missionaries becoming part of the culture they are involved in was really rare. There are a LOT of layers to this book. You should check it out. Read more
Review:I'm a big fan of Kelly Armstrong's "Women of the Underworld" series. Each book, until "Personal Demon" has gotten better, richer, and deeper.
When Hope appeared in "No Humans Involved," I didn't really care for the character and hoped that was the last we'd see of her. When I found out "Personal Demon" was centered around Hope, I had some reservations but went ahead and bought it based on past books in the series. (I didn't care much for Paige until "Dime Store Magic" and now she's one of... Read more
Review:I love the books in the Women of the Otherworld series, my favorites being Bitten, Stolen, and Haunted. In her seventh in the series, we have the celebrity necro, Jaime Vegas, who is invited to a house in LA for a TV production on raising spirits. She finds an ulterior motive for the production though and also finds herself trying to escape too much attention being who she is, a member of a council that supervises mortals & otherworldly beings. There is plenty of plot driven intrigue and sex... Read more
Review:With these opening lines, the ultimate outsider novel was born almost 140 years ago. Despite the number of years since its publication, it has lost none of its meaning, insight, or social value as a work of art. If anything, it has gained popularity and standing due to the many divergent and contentious worldviews of so many outsiders from all walks of life today. Few people realize that Ralph Ellison's classic 'Invisible Man' owes more than just passing gratitude for inspiration. Dostoevsky, si... Read more

Review:Protagonist Nostromo experiences the life which the author seeks for the reader to envy - or does he or she?
Living amid the fictional South American country torn with civil war and military coup's strife, Nostromo works for foreign miners whose ill begotten gain is admonished by the countrypeople and the leaders of the coup. Eventually, even the loyal and most helpful to the English Nostromo must concede that his purpose should be more than aiding the rich to extract his country's riche... Read more
