Review:When I picked Blood and Bone as my Monthly Amazon Library choice, I wasn't familiar with the author, therefore I was pretty open-minded with no real expectations, nor anything except a few reviews (some good, some bad) to give me a partial insight of Tara's work. At the time I had a few other books I was more interested in, so I read them first. When I finally sat down to read Blood and Bone. That's when everything changed.
Blood and Bone is like riding a roller coaster without a safety b... Read more
Review:I am very surprised and grateful to hear these short stories were not written by the real Stephen King. They were the worst short stories I have ever read. They did not make any cohesive sense and there were a number of grammatical and spelling errors, which I had not previously experienced in the real Stephen King books, of which I have read all of or at least 98% of. Please do not sell any more books under the name of Stephen King (my absolute favorite author) if it is not the real Stephen ... Read more
Review:Oh my, another winner from Steena Holmes, I wouldn’t expect anything else. David is a dying old man who has lots of secrets. His granddaughter, who didn’t know he existed, needs to meet him and find out the secrets he harbors regarding her mother. Her mother suffers from mental illness as did her deceased mother. There are horrible stories from her mother’s upbringing.. I didn’t want to read this as fast as I did but I couldn’t help myself. Read more
Review:Beautiful and descriptive writing. An interesting and rich story. There were times i had to reread certain parts. It was so heavy what the characters had to say. Best vampire story I've read. So glad I stumbled across this!! :) Read more
Review:I was very disappointed when I discovered that the "Super Boxset" consisted of only two stories, each involving three relatively short volumes. I thought the graphic, showing six "books" was very misleading. I thought the second story was well written; not so much the first. Read more
Review:I was on the NR train with a college junior who was a former Bible study student of mine in high school. We were on our way to the Carnegie Deli when I asked how his fellow classmates were doing. It was then that he told me the news. "Didn't you hear?" he said. "--- was recently in a porn video." When I heard this, I said that it was like hearing that a young child I knew had been molested. He responded incredulously, "When I heard about it, I laughed."
I might have laughed as well. The w... Read more
Review:Well written....but a slow story. No suspense and too predictable. I can't believe anyone thought this was " a great read.". Once you are introduced , you know immediately ..."who did what." How can a girl be missing 10 yrs and several in the book continually refer to her as "missing?" The implication throughout the book is that she is either missing , didn't want to be found or simply ran away. How can the disappearance of a friend traumatized a person to the point that they barely function? Fr... Read more
Review:SPOILER WARNING
Character additions uninteresting and lengthy. Main character supposedly a perfect killing machine , special forces op but blunders it in an ending that is not culpable. High and antiquated in misogyny. Read more
Review:THE PROFESSION is a well written, fast moving book about the use of mercenaries in warfare. It has all the heroic characters and gripping combat one expects out of Pressfield, and should not be missed by action/thriller fans.
I admit I was skeptical about reading this. Pressfield's GATES OF FIRE is one of my all time favorite books, and I have read it at least four times. However, TIDES OF WAR was an incredible disappointment, as it was way more political than thrilling. However, THE ... Read more
Review:I immerse myself in John Connolly books; the supernatural reality that he creates is scary and hugely entertaining, every time. If you like John Connolly this is another must read. If you haven't read his work before this is a good start as it is a stand alone novel despite the Charlie Parker cameo. Read more
