Hit List: An Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter Novel
Hit List: An Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter Novel

Review:I was going to give this book a three, only because LKH finally decided that sex every other page wasn't making her a great writer.

It's true, we don't have the sex filler. Which is good. We don't have much plot either, which is bad. Someone else mentioned that the murder mystery was never fulfilled. They are right. What I had hoped when I started the book, was Anita, Edward and the cops moving forward until the finale.

Not so. It starts out good and then has a flat tire when 'Su... Read more

Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter Collection 1-5

Review:This installment of Anita Blake finds her focused on her primary job as an Animator. Anita is contracted for a raising of the dead to settle a property dispute in the Ozark mountains. While in the area, Anita is called in to advise on a preternatural killing. Unfortunately, the cop in charge is a woman with a chip on her shoulder the size of Alaska, and she does not want anyone interfering with her investigation.
To make matters worse, the age of the bodies is about another hundred years b... Read more

Blood Noir (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, Book 16)

Review:I am so glad i did not waste money on this installment, i got my copy at my local library and i got about 80 pages into the novel before i returned it. it is the same thing over and over, she has to many men, and sex all the time. The Laughing Corpse (Anita Blake - Vampire Hunter
The Laughing Corpse (Anita Blake - Vampire Hunter

Review:I read mysteries and horror/fantasy only occasionally because I can usually guess whodunit or whydunit (as I did here) or because I find the fantasy too unconvincing (Tolkien being an exception), so why bother. However, I am enjoying this series, despite some sloppy writing/editing and holes in the plots, because Hamilton does create a convincing alternate reality and her chracterizations are, on the whole, very good. And Jean-Claude is just a great character, as is Anita. However, [SPOILERS A... Read more

Seize the Night (Dark-Hunter, Book 7)
Seize the Night (Dark-Hunter, Book 7)

Review:I LOVE the Dark Hunter series. Yes, this book was a little more breezy than the first ones. Yes, there did seem to be a little rush to the action and the romance. But, I think that Dev was worth the wait. I started reading this with a little trepidition. I wasn't entirely excited about a story for Dev, but after reading it I loved it. The humor is great. Dev really steps up in my estimation after this book. COuld I have done with a little more depth, sure. But it is still worth the read... Read more

Fantasy Lover (Dark-Hunter Novels Book 1)
Fantasy Lover (Dark-Hunter Novels Book 1)

Review:Genre: Paranormal Romance

Thoughts:

"Dirty Joke." Is the first thoughts that pop into my head after reading Fantasy Lover. Personally I love a dirty joke, especially a good one. Fantasy Lover is one good dirty joke.

I'm not saying that it didn't have some intense moments. Jillian is our man trapped in the book to be a "love slave," and Kenyon brings the harsh reality of that into light. Grace has been wounded before and no longer trusts men. She's a sex therapist who doesn't... Read more

A Dark-Hunter Novel (Dark-Hunter Novels)
A Dark-Hunter Novel (Dark-Hunter Novels)

Review:Having read all her Dark Hunter series, I most enjoy the sarcastic wit she gives her characters. The research she has done into various mythologies is impressive. I would, however, would have liked a glossary of sorts in the back of the book that readers can reference when we need to refresh our memories of a particular character or mythological occurrence . It's distracting to have to stop and look up something that was explained in a past book. Read more

A Dark-Hunter Novel (Dark-Hunter Novels) - Bad Moon Rising
A Dark-Hunter Novel (Dark-Hunter Novels) - Bad Moon Rising

Review:I have to say that this is a great book. There is some rehash of old stories but since Aimee and Fang's story runs concurrently with all the other DH novels starting with Talon's (and they were in many of those stories) it had to be done. So yes there is some repeat but I prefer getting a full story especially since this pairing went against all the werehunter rules. Read more

Dance with the Devil (Dark-Hunter, Book 4)

Review:Man oh man, what a story! Zarek I simply loooooooove you!
SK manages to infuse into her books 'main men' who are real ... they may be sexy "beasts" but SK's message (if you ask me) is that you always need to look under the exterior: don't judge a book by it's cover! Just because these guys are a little rough around the edges doesn't mean they don't have their own stories to tell or that they can't make absolutely awesome 'heros' in a romance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Zarek's character is dee... Read more

Night Embrace (Dark-Hunter, Book 3)
Night Embrace (Dark-Hunter, Book 3)

Review:In Sherrilyn Kenyon's alternate reality, gods exist and demons stalk the earth preying on humans. However, Artemis -- of Mount Olympus fame -- has set up her own commando team of immortal warriors to kick daimon butt and protect the fragile humans. Led by the ever intriguing Acheron Parthenopaeus, the Dark Hunters are rowdy, gorgeous and sometimes even slightly insane. But each of them is bigger than life and each has a story to tell. NIGHT EMBRACE is Talon's tale.

Talon of the Morrig... Read more
