Review:The voice of this book is very strong, confident, and clear. The descriptions of such horrors occur in blissfully beautiful detail. The irony of such strength in imagery in a book which focuses on scent gives me great respect and admiration for the author. Highly recommend. Read more
Review:As with all of the preceding Discworld books (I'm reading them in publication-date order), this one is filled with humor, clear parallels to our own world, and wonderful philosophical comments.
Terry's books contain enough thought-provoking philosophical statements to fill a separate, probably rather large book on their own. A separate volume could be made from the laugh-inducing conversations and similes. Read more
Review:I've read Dresden, wildcard wizard, black spark, etc. All great books, but Nate Silver series is my all time favorite! Page Turner doesn't really do justice to this series. Forget about sleep, you won't be able to put these books down. Oh, and they are "toe-t a h -lee" awesome, trust me - you'll get it ;) Read more
Review:Astounding and beautiful language and intriguing characters combine to evoke an alluring time. This book was a joy to read and to savor.
I have noticed that some other reviewers have noted critically that Chabon sometimes uses words that not everyone knows. In fact, he is using language perfectly and precisely.
For example, some reviewers critized his using the word "mahout," but there is no other substitute ("elephant trainer" has different connotations). Anyway, the word is defin... Read more
Review:Truly 5 star writing? Probably not, but I've read this title easily 15 times between 1989 and now! Odds are pretty good that after you finish, you'll go on to the legends series about Raistlin and Caramon. Read more

Review:
What can I say about this insane, bloody, sexual book? It was amazing! I missed Mia so much and I love how in this book she is just as fierce as usual, just as smart, just as bloodthirsty, and just as stabby as before. Seriously, I love this feral b*tch!
I love The direction this book takes Mia in, I love how we learn new things and take unexpected twists, and that ending left me SHOOK! I am beyond ready for Darkdawn so my heart can officially implode!

Review:I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this book. I thought book 1 was just ok but this one pretty much sucked me in and now I cannot wait to get the next book. It was a little predictable but the way the story was written will keep the reader hooked to the end. Mimi is really getting on my nerves though and I would not be upset to see the last of her. The biggest mystery that I cannot figure out is if Schuyler will end up with Oliver and spurn custom just like her mother or will she end up w... Read more
Review:What is the difference between mediocre writing and an excellent tale? I think it is how well the story flows. This story flows fiercely like a mountain stream, cascading down a chasm and carrying the reader along a tumultuous yet entertaining journey. Read more
