Review:Copied from my Goodreads review.
First the bad.
There were a crap ton of typos. Missing words, extra words, that kind of thing. For example, too many "the"s, or missing "to"s. It drove me crazy. Other than that, I loved this book.
Then the good.
Stark is what I wished Dresden would be. Of course I had to make some comparisons, because I have been reading the Dresden Files series for a while now. There are similarities but not as many as you would first think. I always... Read more
Review:I have read numerous zombie books and the two so far in this series have been a couple of my favorites. The characters are very likable and engaging. The cause of this outbreak is very interesting and different than any I've heard before. Almost all of the characters you have come to like are still alive which is different from most zombie stories and is probably one reason I have liked these books so much. I'm looking forward to book 3. Read more
Review:Thomas Covenant is crumbling inside under the stress of tortures no human can withstand. Did he just return from a fantasy world in which he saved the day by using the magic power hidden in his wedding ring, or has the leprosy which has destroyed him as a man and barred him from society driven him mad? A second trip to the magical Land doesn't help his mental state at all, especially when he meets fellow Earthman Hile Troy, to whom the Land has given sight for his blinded eyes and employment ... Review:I was so relieved to read the other reviews...I thought I had turned into a prude. I am so tired of a book of sex. I started reading Anita Blake when it first came out. I LOVED the storylines and the plots and the twists and the characters. I devoured every book and couldn't wait for the next and could read the old ones over and over.
There are no storylines anymore just Anita sleeping with whomever happens to be around.
My teen-ager started reading Anita when she was 15 and lo... Read more
Review:I could not put this book down. This series just keeps getting better and better. Yes, the sex is pretty graphic, but graphic writing is one of the things that hooks you into this series. I find it interesting that the people who complain about the detailed descriptions of sex have no complaints about the equally detailed descriptions of mutilated corpses and rotting vampires. Think about it. Anita's powers do keep growing, but they aren't just falling out of the sky: they can all be trac... Read more
Review:I have always liked Anita Blake as a series. I have made excuses for the books. I can't make them any more. This is by far her best writing in a while that is not pure sex. It is also not a book. It is a scene and the aftermath. In her indulgent manner to release this as a 24 dollar book is to show how much she does not care for any of her readers. The essay and comic on how she writes and the situation that served as the impetus for the book are okay if you want to know. But to show us t... Read more
Review:Unbelievable, but same as Greg (who is the other who wrote a review, and he read it in the same month), I found this book in a corner of my father's in law house, I read it and it was a wonderful reading, it was printed in 1974 and is a very good book, if you see it at your parents house just read it, you will enjoy it. Review:I am so glad i did not waste money on this installment, i got my copy at my local library and i got about 80 pages into the novel before i returned it. it is the same thing over and over, she has to many men, and sex all the time. I have one question, what happened the Anita we first met in guilty pleasures? i will not be reading anymore of this series. Read more
Review:In the space of 1 novel, Anita Blake crossed over from being a very fun rip-off of some of the better pulp fiction styles with several interesting twists to an over-the-top character better designed for a cartoon novella than 300 pages of prose. I liked her better when she was actually trying to do one of her several jobs, rather than spending an entire novel letting the men get all the action--both literally and figuratively.
What saves this book: (1) The development of Richard's intern... Read more
Review:ok, so let me start by saying i LOVE the earlier novels. however, this one and some of the ones behind it are up to LKH normal standards. i probably would have given this 2 stars if it wasn't for how much i love the series and keep hoping that it will rebound.
what was wrong with the book? well the biggest thing is the indiscriminate sex... lots and lots of meaningless sex. the plot revolves around anita and her uncontrolable impulses. there is little to the mystery. that is my mai... Read more
