Etched in Bone (A Novel of the Others)
Etched in Bone (A Novel of the Others)

Review:Recently discovered Anne Bishop and just binge read this series. I'm a big fan of Charlaine Harris's Sookie Stack house books and these remind me of that series quite a bit. The writing and the characters are charming and funny but the stories move at a fast pace. Looking forward to the next one. Read more

Dreams Made Flesh (Black Jewels, Book 5)
Dreams Made Flesh (Black Jewels, Book 5)

Review:This book contains three different stories. The first story explains how Daemonar and Marian, (Lucivar's son and wife) were involved in his life and their appearance in the Main First three books.
The second story reveals more about Saetan and his past which is interesting. It also reveals what Zuulumaan is and why he refused to tell his son, Lucivar, telling him to ask Andulvar. Zuulumaan helps fill in the gap in which Lucivar asks for the story of Zuulumaan in exchange for helping Karla thr... Read more

Twilight's Dawn (The Black Jewels Trilogy Book 9)
Twilight's Dawn (The Black Jewels Trilogy Book 9)

Review:This book is going to get mixed reviews no matter what!! No one likes to see the main characters you've grown to like over the years just come to such a human end - death.

But Bishoop does it while keeping true to each character's form, while still leaving a quite dignity to those left behind to move on and continue to grow and hopefully have more stories to tell.

If you've been a fan of the black jewel series - this book provides you with some closure and while some people might ... Read more

Heir to the Shadows (Black Jewels, Book 2)
Heir to the Shadows (Black Jewels, Book 2)

Review:Anne Bishop is a modern cross between Virginia Woolf and Margaret Mead. She explores the bonds between men and women in an alternate universe where men serve and women rule as nurturers to maintain a balance of power between the sexes. This trilogy is a brilliant study in cultural anthropology and of the different forms of good and evil cloaked in a riveting story. Read more

Lake Silence (World of the Others, The)

Review:Oh man, life just got more interesting . I love this story set in the world of the Others. It talks about Vicki and how she and the people around her deal with the interest the Others have in humans and their inability to be honest in business. Always trying to get something for nothing . The Invisible Ring (Black Jewels, Book 4)

Review:Anne Bishop strikes again in the land of the Black Jewels, and the plot only gets better!!!Jared is the world's perfect, overprotective male falling for... an old lady? Kidding! It scared me when I first read that part, too. But the book is NOT about an old lady, just a really young, naivete one! ^.^She rocks, he rocks, the twisting, mysterious plot of who dun it makes for a EXCELLENTE read!!! I've read it thrice already and plan on doing so again!!! Read more

The Shadow Queen (Black Jewels)
The Shadow Queen (Black Jewels)

Review:I have to wonder what happened to the Janelle and Daemon that I loved from The Black Jewels trilogy. The characters in these latest books are flat and boring. I wish Anne Bishop would leave the boring marital lives of Janelle and Daemon out of books about other characters. Cassidy's story was intriguing and heart felt. Things were just starting to heat up towards the end and then...it's over. I hope there are more books in this series about Cassidy. I wouldn't call this Black Jewels book 7. To m... Read more

Shalador's Lady (Black Jewels)

Review:Possibly my favorite of the series. I love how it delves into the question of what happens after the heroine saves the day? How do you rebuild and create a happily ever after?
This story does that beautifully. Read more

Marked In Flesh (A Novel of the Others)
Marked In Flesh (A Novel of the Others)

Review:Continuing the 'fish out of water' tale, the now freed blood prophet Meg Corban, explores the similar but strange world of sentient animals, the 'Terra Indigene '. Blending the comical confusion of human personal interaction, we experience an outsiders view of our world from the viewpoint of Meg, & the Local animals(Terra Indigene). I especially love the relationship from Sam, the emotionally damaged orphan wolf pup, his Uncle Simon Wolfguard, & 'The Meg'. Read this book, you laugh &... Read more

Tangled Webs (Black Jewels)
Tangled Webs (Black Jewels)

Review:Tangled Webs is a continuation that takes place after the short stories in Dreams Made Flesh. The plot mainly focuses on Surreal, with lots of character involvement from Lucivar, Janelle, Damian and others. It provides a larger view into what normal life is like for the Blood, as well as having a murder mystery type story to solve.

The plot is convoluted, which fits with the mystery, but it does not flow smoothly. Along with the expected excitement, there are spots where you feel the c... Read more
