Review:Naturally, like any book that's become a film, while reading the book you will see what was left out in the film itself. This is no different but I knew when I saw the film, having read about and experienced many types of spiritual phenomena, that it had to be based upon such information. What's great about reading the book is the detail. I sat with it, like I do all my other books, with a pencil, underlining things I knew to be true to me. Richard Matheson did an incredible job of creating ... Read more

Review:IN Defiance introduces the reader to Ivy Nash, a foster kid living a difficult life who grows up to become a case worker for the foster system helping kids just like herself get decent placements. And when we meet Ivy the caseworker, it is obvious that she is seeking the best for the kids she is assigned, she truly cares for their wellbeing, which is completely opposite many other case workers. Let me stop here and say that this book “IN Defiance” gives a very good behind the scenes view of th... Read more
Review:I really enjoyed reading this book. Unexpectedly well written for a guy known primarily for five minute video reviews of games. All of the wit, cynicism, and satire of said reviews are present; however, it is quite a bit less vulgar (for better or worse, depending on your taste). Read more
Review:Concentrated and read every line for the first 25% of the novel and was completely bored ; then it picked up a bit for the next 10% and then it went downhill again ; decided at that point to just skim thru the balance of the novel, reading only when there was a double quote as that was when someone actually spoke.
I don't recall ever reading a trilogy where the first novel was so good and made you anticipate the next novel and what happens next ; but tragically its as though a new writer ... Read more

Review:After reading the graphic novel "The Storm in the Barn," a horror story set during the Dust Bowl days in the American Midwest, someone recommended this book to me. It had a similar premise -- a horror story set during the Dust Bowl, this time in Canada -- but I figured it would be different enough to give a new take on the concept. And it certainly is a creative and chilling book, bringing a strong dose of Lovecraft-inspired terror to an unlikely era and place... but the writing style feels a ... Read more
Review:I really enjoy reading series. I like following characters from one book to the next and so I own quite a few sets of books by different authors. This was one book that I was looking forward to reading and I was just not impressed. When I really enjoy a book, I find that there are parts that I want to go back and reread, and this book just didn't have any of those. Not to mention that there was no just cause to mention another authors fashion sense in the book. It was ridiculously rude to bring ... Read more
Review:Started getting back into reading in general and tv novels like this were what I could keep my attention on (I'm not good at imagining my own characters, I need references). I read things in a span of 5 days or so and it was good, I'm not a good reviewer of books, yet, so all I can say is that it's good. Characters feel at times out of character though. Maybe it's my first time reading the supernatural novels or something, but I feel things are a tad bit out there with the characters. Read more
