A Novel (Blyton Summer Detective Club Adventure) - Meddling Kids
A Novel (Blyton Summer Detective Club Adventure) - Meddling Kids

Review:Clever idea, something of a letdown in the execution.
In typical hypocritical fashion, towards the second half of the book we learn that one character hates guns, another bemoans the availability of guns, and we are then treated to an extended action sequence where guns are used about as much as in a Rambo movie. I would have preferred my Scooby Doo without the author's politics.
Still, there are some parts that are well done. The general layout of this alternate Scooby world is pretty goo... Read more

Lost Boy: The True Story of Captain Hook
Lost Boy: The True Story of Captain Hook

Review:Fans of Peter Pan will relish this inventive back-story. We all know who James Hook is and several other writers have attempted to create his back-story, not all with success. Christina Henry has done a fine job with LOST BOY in showing how a very young Hook started out idolizing Peter Pan and the events that turned that love into resentment and eventually hatred-fueled obsession. The Red King (Wyrd Book 1)
The Red King (Wyrd Book 1)

Review:I don't normally read zombie fiction but this one was so well done and captivating I couldn't put it down. Nick Cole writes like a master, with a nostalgically noir prose that makes you fall in love with his characters even when they are flawed like Holiday. Can't wait to read the next installment in the Red King. Read more

A Novel of Cosmic Horror (John Dies at the End) - What the Hell Did I Just Read
A Novel of Cosmic Horror (John Dies at the End) - What the Hell Did I Just Read

Review:I wish this book was longer!

Seriously, by the time I got to the end I felt like I'd only read half a book. It took me two days to read (I had a hard time putting it down) so that might explain why it felt like it wasn't enough.

I enjoyed being able to read the story from Dave's, John's, and Amy's points of view, as all three are unreliable narrators in their own way (Dave and John for the obvious reasons we're used to, Amy due to her inability to see certain things because she do... Read more

The Hammer and the Blade: An Egil & Nix Novel
The Hammer and the Blade: An Egil & Nix Novel

Review:I got this because the author is somewhat well known for his Forgotten Realms books which I have enjoyed in the past. But these characters and this world were not as interesting. The world is poorly fleshed out and the plot predictable. Not a bad read, but nothing really interesting. Read more

Patch 17: Epic LitRPG (Realm of Arkon, Book 1)
Patch 17: Epic LitRPG (Realm of Arkon, Book 1)

Review:Here is the thing... Books can be badly written and still be be good. A great concept or exciting story can be held back by poor grammar og sloppy editing, but as long as you can figure out what is going on you can still enjoy the book.

This book is an eksempel of the other kind of bad writing. Sometimes you dont know who is speaking, or in fact what they are doing. There are sentences in this book that makes no sense. Sometimes the author doesn't even explain what is happening and you ar... Read more

Demon Driven (The Demon Accords Book 2)
Demon Driven (The Demon Accords Book 2)

Review:Im always looking for someone new to read. I found this series by accident. I enjoy the supernatural, so this is right up my alley. The author follows most of the conventional ideas about vampires and weres, and introduces some Native American supernatural as well. Easy to follow, enjoyable to read. I bought all four books in the series. Read more

Executable (The Demon Accords Book 6)

Review:Well I have mostly forgotten most of this story/series. Thankfully this story relies heavily on other characters, and is mostly a stand-along or maybe a branch new story. Im still going have to skim the previous books to catch up. Read more
