The Haunting of Sunshine Girl [Black Friday Signed Edition
The Haunting of Sunshine Girl [Black Friday Signed Edition

Review:The Haunting of Sunshine Girl is what I would call a fluffy horror book. Aimed at younger readers, it would be the perfect balance of horror and humour.

I love creepy books that will scare me, and while I didn’t find this one to be particularly creepy, there were a few moments that surprised me, with paranormal twists that I didn’t expect. Going into Sunshine Girl, I knew it was going to be about a girl at a haunted house, but the luisearches who banish ghosts made it really unique.

The Madman’s Daughter
The Madman’s Daughter

Review:“Dead flesh and sharpened scalpels didn't bother me. I was my father's daughter, after all. My nightmares were made of darker things.”

The Madman's Daughter is dark, twisted, and captivating. It is the perfect book for any mystery and science fans. The characters are all intriguing, there was constant action and mystery and the world that Megan Shepherd created is so mesmerizing you can't help but fall in love with it. In my opinion, this book was perfect.

Numb: A disturbing thriller with a killer twist
Numb: A disturbing thriller with a killer twist

Review:Another great book by Jeff Menapace! Definitely a page turner, couldn't put the book down until I finished it. This is pretty much how all of Jeff's books go. Can't say that all readers would enjoy such a twisted, violent, mind-bending storyline, but if you love horror this is a book for you. The only downfall is that you will reach the end, then be left wanting more. So, hurry up Jeff, we need another! Read more

The King of Plagues: A Joe Ledger Novel
The King of Plagues: A Joe Ledger Novel

Review:The third of the Joe Ledger books by Jonathan Mayberry. This has been one of my favorite series that I have encountered lately, tightly written and completely engrossing. A delightful blend of SF, horror and action with a bit of detective work mixed in, it is sometimes hard to figure out where this book will lead you.

Joe is both the luckiest and unluckiest Department of Military Sciences employees. Lucky to be alive, but cursed with some of the worst events to occur during his watch. He ... Read more

The Power That Preserves (The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant the Unbeliever
The Power That Preserves (The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant the Unbeliever

Review:The premise -- that the protagonist can't quite tell if his adventure is real or not -- is well treated. Covenant (the only character we really get to know with any depth) is deeply fleshed out, and both very flawed and strangely sympathetic. And, most important, we get to see the character grow over the course of the story.

But sometimes the author's choice of words gives the impression that he just got his first thesaurus for Christmas. The word choices don't communicate any better, ... Read more

Lost Souls
Lost Souls

Review:Ms. Brite describes the surroundings and the strange smells of the world so clearly that you could practically feel the things she describes. Her style of writing is unique and exquisite.
I'd bought Lost Souls after reading Drawing Blood and when I knew so well that my Monthly tests were coming, I did the biggest mistake - I opened the book and read the first page. Then, it was all pure torture. I couldn't put the book down for even a minute no matter how much I'd tried to convince myself tha... Read more

Necroscope: Defilers
Necroscope: Defilers

Review:I remember reading this many years ago. Probably middle School and I'm now 42 so it's been a while. I remember liking it a lot and have been tempted many times over the years to re read it. I assumed that it wouldn't be as good as I remembered it.
It was as good. I re read it oddly enough for the human interactions. For some reason I recalled finding them genuine and I wanted to read them again. They held up, Harry and Brenda, his teachers and their feelings towards him. It was everything I r... Read more

The Gates: A Samuel Johnson Tale

Review:Okay, I was desperate for another Charlie Parker Novel and as good as it was this novel is for kids only...very young kids so don't waste your time thinking otherwise. From now on I'll believe Amazon when they say it's for the younger crowd...fourth through eighth grade maybe. Read more
