Review:"The mad have a grace all of their own."
Rachel Morgan
I was extremely excited to dig into this one after the massive ending of the second. As I wanted, it starts with Rachel and Algaliarept and their 'deal', which was a fascinating turnout. Setting the tone for the rest of the book was perfect. I was happy to get plenty of Al time, and thrown in with this was a new, intriguing character and back history.
In this book the pot is heating up about Ivy and Rachel's unconventional r... Read more
Review:I have followed all the Chronicles of Thomas Covenant with great interest. Stephen R. Donaldson is a very literate writer; one of the things I have heard of him is that he is a perfectionist in his writing, wanting to make sure every detail fits. It shows. The storylines hang together, and there are few inconsistencies visible to the naked eye. The Land is magical, and the people in it are vivid - sometimes (and often) more real than the real world outside of Covenant's dreams. The Last Dark is ... Read more
Review:I love the characters. Each new book has built on the previous stories. I really love Ram and Elora,so glad we can keep up with their life. Baka and Heaven's story is beautiful. Please keep writing and I'll keep reading. Read more
Review:I have read all of Sigurdurdottir's mysteries and enjoyed them. so I was intrigued by her shift to a writing a ghost story. This book has all the tension of her earlier books, with the addition of quite credible - and unpleasant - spirits of children who died untimely deaths. Read more
Review:I love this book, and recommend the movie! Oskar is a young boy in Sweden, he doesn't have many friends, and he constantly harassed by bullies. A young girl, Eli, and her 'father' move in next door. Oskar and Eli become friends, and strange things begin to happen in the neighborhood, and Oskar begins to wonder; How come he never sees Eli during the daytime? Read more
Review:The "haunted house" has been done to death, and thus it takes a writer of considerable skill and imagination to write a "haunted house" novel that isn't just a re-write of a dozen (or maybe a hundred) other novels that preceded it. In doing so, Siddons took on a very formidable task-- and that she largely succeeded in her endeavor is a credit to her skill and imagination.
*WARNING:* Those who think that a "horror" novel must have guts and gore dripping from every page will be sorely dis... Read more
Review:Alice in Wonderland meets RH. Well sort of anyway. Allison falls down the rabbit hole and finds herself in not quite wonderland. I felt as if the characters have depth even if we don’t know everything about them yet. The female MC is my favorite character right now, as she isn't waiting on anyone to save her, and she's had so much to overcome. The world building is fantastic and is my favorite part of the book. I’m looking forward to the upcoming tea party! Read more
Review:Paul Tremblay masters the art of creating multidimensional characters whom you love despite their flaws. It's a book that's not black and white, instead its filled with shades of gray. Highly recommend! Read more
Review:I am very surprised and grateful to hear these short stories were not written by the real Stephen King. They were the worst short stories I have ever read. They did not make any cohesive sense and there were a number of grammatical and spelling errors, which I had not previously experienced in the real Stephen King books, of which I have read all of or at least 98% of. Please do not sell any more books under the name of Stephen King (my absolute favorite author) if it is not the real Stephen ... Read more
Review:This is Bruce P. Grether's review, though my partner's name appears on my reviews here for reasons known only to the Amazon software!
When the astonishing, elegant, and relentless Anne Rice published THE WOLF GIFT earlier this year, I was transported, as always by her remarkable prose. The new Man Wolf Saga (she tells us the next one comes in 2013) whetted my appetite to return to her magnificent Vampires.
