Magic to the Bone (Allie Beckstrom, Book 1)
Magic to the Bone (Allie Beckstrom, Book 1)

Review:Really great start to a series. Allie is a interesting character as is the world she lives in. There are many sides and effects to magic that I havent seen before in other "worlds." The world building is very well done and close enough to current times to not be too confusing. The characters are interesting and you want to know what happens to them. I am looking forward to the next in the series. Read more

The Third Gate: A Novel (Jeremy Logan Series)
The Third Gate: A Novel (Jeremy Logan Series)

Review:The writing is very good, but the storyline was a little bland. The mystery was good, but there was nothing for the main characters to overcome at the end. I did like the writing style and the characters though. This is my first book by Lincoln Child and I will definitely read another. Read more

In a Dark Place (Ed & Lorraine Warren Book 4)
In a Dark Place (Ed & Lorraine Warren Book 4)

Review:Horrifying story, and ultimately very, very sad.

I just hate it when parents don't believe their kids. I don't like it either when people deny other people's reality because it hasn't happened to them, although that runs rampant in our world (as well as in the distant past: "The world is flat and you shall die for suggesting it's round!") Anyhoo, this was a terrifying story. Highly recommended. Read more

The Cabin at the End of the World: A Novel
The Cabin at the End of the World: A Novel

Review:Tremblay keeps getting better and better with each book. This is a well written, taut, little thriller that I have been replaying in my mind for days now.

Most of the negative reviews seem to be stuck on the lack of a definitive ending. Having read Tremblay's other work, I knew not to expect definitive answers, so this didn't bother me in the least. Mileage clearly varies, but if the plot appeals to you and you don't need a tidy epilogue I think you'd be well pleased with this book. Read more

Mystery Walk
Mystery Walk

Review:This is the story of two healers whose Mystery Walks take them on separate paths. They both have to fight the Shape Shifter (probably Satan ).
I recommend this book to fans of Robert McCammon's work. Read more

The Wolf's Hour

Review:I absolutely love this book. I own the paperback and have read it so many times I wore out the glue holding the pages in. Robert McCammon is primarily known for his horror novels, but this is one of his best books. I would also recommend Boy's Life and Gone South. Read more

Review:If you liked Dean Koontz's INTENSITY, you'll love this book which contains many of the same elements including a calculating psychotic killer, and a victim who struggles against insurmountable obstacles .... in this case to rescue her baby from a madwoman. I can't recommend this book highly enough. It is one of the best in this genre, and the characters are drawn superbly. It's a real page turner. I've always judged a thriller by its ability to surprise me at every next page, and this one ... Read more

Blackwood Farm
Blackwood Farm

Review:I was delighted with this book. It was vintage "Rice". She is back! I was pleased to see some of our old friends again especially the Mayfair family and of course our old friend Lestat. This was so much better than her last couple of books. I am anxious to see where "Quinn and Rowan" go from here. I finished the book yesterday and hated that it was over.
Great book. Read more
