Review:I have been convinced for some time that Darwin’s theory is highly flawed. In fact, it is clear that even many biologists, as well as other evolutionary “scientists” know full well the problems with the theory. However, they view Darwinian evolution as providing the scientific foundation for their materialistic beliefs. For this reason, most biologists aggressively defend the theory even while they desperately look for a naturalistic alternative. Author Tom Wolfe sees Darwinian evolution for wha... Read more
Review:This is the first grammar book that I actually read all the way through. Prior to this, I didn't even know what adverbs or conjunctions are.
I had an English teacher say my writing is perfect. Off course it's not, but I was happy because it's my first time receiving such compliment.
I learned from this book that English is actually easy and pleasant to learn if you have a great teacher like Susan Thurman. I can't remember struggling at all, and I actually had a pleasant time.
Review:The writer is a real professional, he has a great sense of humor. The book gives A LOT of great informations about writing. You will probably have to read it 3 times in order to write much, much better! Read more
Review:This workbook/grammar review does its job well. Jane Straus has organized the material well. The practice exercises are brief and to the point, and she covers the major points--those problem points that so easily trip us up in our writing. I find the material very useful. Read more
Review:Well-organized, easy to understand book. Has a progress chart and stickers inside which helped my child stay motivated to work through it. Lessons are short and well-explained. Will buy for my younger children when they are ready to learn cursive. Read more
Review:I bought the eBook version of this for school. The product description says it's compatible with Kindle for PC, but it never downloads, and I can't read it on my computer. I can read it in Kindle Cloud reader, but it doesn't display very well, plus I have to be online to access it. This is very strange, as I've downloaded three free eBooks from Amazon, and have no problems accessing them.
As far as the difference between MLA 7th and 8th editions is concerned, I can't speak to that. My pro... Read more

Review:Steven Pinker is an intellectual super star. He has written some marvelous books. So naturally anyone who is interested in picking up tips and insights on writing well would want to read his book. Alas, it is too academic, and actually difficult to read. His writing is fine, but the subjects he focuses on are of minor interest—at least to me, and I think to most readers. And he dwells too long on each topic. I have collected and read a number of style manuals. This one, I believe, is of little u... Read more
Review:Could a book about grammar be funny, highly informative -- and a hard to put down page turner? The answer is "yes" if it is this one written by Mary Norris. Anyone who has ever written anything more formal than an email or a grocery list will find that all those little things they've puzzled over have been puzzles to Ms. Norris as well which she discusses in a narrative style so engaging you hardly realize you're learning a great deal along the way. I particularly like her account of how she end... Read more
Review:One can hardly grant full marks to a punctuation book that does not extol the serial comma. The author (usually) omits it and gives no reason for her preference; unlike most who avoid the serial comma, she mentions a couple points in its favor. Ironically, she fails even to note that her later example "Don't guess, use a timer or watch" lacks the ambiguity she ascribes to it if written by an author who consistently uses serial commas. If you require solider reasons for insisting on its use, try ... Read more
